Any winter driven 997TT's?

I drive mine on summer tyres in winter (below 30F temps). Well, for my wheels there are no winter tires for sale (HRE P43 20"). I drive only when the roads are dry though and I keep PSM on.

Been driving mine (with summers) whenever the roads are clear. Have done some pseudo skid pad testing in parking lots and although summers are not great in cold weather, they have a lot more grip than you think.

I have a 997 TT (Tip) and I drive it all year long around Chicago and or Denver. Never ever any problems...I wash it a few times per week to get the salt off...otherwise I would say it runs perfectly as you would expect of an AWD car. The only issue is the low front spoiler and you sometimes plow some snow...good luck.

1+ I've been driving for years w summer tires through non-snow winters with no problems. It goes without saying to be smart about it but there is a phenomenal amount of traction and I've never pushed things to where they let loose.

Well, in the last two weeks, we've had two snowfalls with 8" or more (Chicago suburbs). My TTS is only 2 weeks old and I had traded in my previous IS-F with snow tires for the 997.2 TTS with snow tires.
The AWD really allows much faster acceleration but I don't really like these snow tires on them. The F had Michelin PA4 which were really great earlier this winter - they stopped and turned better. It might have something to do with the 295 wide rears - instead of cutting through the snow and slush, it stays on top of the fluffy stuff.
I'm afraid to post pics in case you guys all blast me LOL.

It has Pirelli Sottozeros on the standard 19" rims. 235s up front and 295s in the rear. I think the Sottozeros are very firm and non-squishy for snow tires. I think they're more for winter sport performance than true snow tires. We'll see how they wear for the next couple of seasons and see if I can even get other brands later on.

I drive my 997.2 all year. 36k miles in 3 years. I keep summer tires on. Doesn't do well in snow, and as long as you don't push it around corners, there is plenty of traction on cold pavement. Just don't push it like you're racing.

I live in New England; using my old 996 C2 in the winter with summer rubber (No snow on ground) was unnerving; but the same tires on the TT is a significantly better experience on cold clear pavement. Only problem is that the roads dont get cleared too fast after a blizzard ( Just got 20 inches this weekend) So i am afraid of ripping off the front spoiler if i got snows. Oh well........

Bumping an old thread here... How chipped up does your paint get with all of the crap on the roads when you drive these year round?
I'm thinking about selling my winter car and using my TT when there is not snow on the ground, but the streets may still have all the sludge from the previous snow.... I will steal my wifes car when the roads are snow covered, or have her drive me to work.
