I never asked about the back-up camera although I "think" it's wired but you can't tell. I t's located under the rear facia above the license plate in the center. Unless you're looking for it you can't tell it's there. Hurley's is very reluctant to drill holes so it's completely removable as are the front parking sensors I had insalled too. I kept my PCM 2.1 and shoud I ever decide to sell the car I can have everthing reversed and returned to OEM for $150.00. Give Hurley's a call, they are experts at this (they are the oldest auto audio shop in VA) and should be able to answer all your questions as well as compare/contrast similar units.

According to my research, to install the Pioneer AVIC you need to either bypass the BOSE amplifier and install an aftermarket amp or use a digital signal conversion module to accomadate the Bose fiberoptic amp. This module is $650. I have an 08 TT with the BOSE system. Do I have this correct?

I did not have to replace my Bose amp nor was it bypassed. Again, I'm a novice but according to Hurley's they use the OEM amp. Hurley's does a lot of local high-end P, MB, Bentley, Lambo, et al dealership installs, I would give them a call, they'll give you an honest no BS answer. At least that's my experience. I believe I posted their number earlier.

The link that Denis with his turbo posts is one that I had read in my research. Either it is incorrect or the earlier 07 TT that 4ocious has is a Bose without fiberoptic. I have no idea, I just want to get it done right. I need to find a local installer that is good. I'm having difficulty doing that.

I live in Austin, Texas. Anyone know a good installer? The local dealer could not give me a good recommendation.

This post could be a bit dated ... but it's all I've found thus far. My installer said the same thing - $550 for the ability to use the Bose amp or $650 for a new amp and even better sound quality.

I'm still torn on whether to go aftermarket or just get something that will allow phone integration to stock unit - quoted $450 for that. Rabbit or something like that.

Assume an aftermarket head unit will further depreciate your car vs. a Blue Tooth or Sat radio that integrates with the OEM set up.

What do you mean the car sits too low for front parking sensors? Since I'm located near you I'm very interested in this. Can you post pics of your parking sensor install? I'm glad there is someone by Tysons who is competent to do electronic work on these cars.

Also what parking sensor system did you go with? Was it the rydeen?

I also added SiriusXM, a back-up camera and steering wheel controls. The dealer I used installs a lot of these systems and had all of the equipment and face plates to make the system look factory even down to the Porsche logo on white background during start-up. What a difference and highly recommended! Very simple to use and the mode interfaces actually make sense. Based upon my research this is the best system on the market and it's made for a Porsche (uses existing wiring harness, Bose amps, speakers etc. and it's completely reversible if I decide to eventually sell the car with/without the Pioneer system). I'll post pictures in a day or two.

Next is a Europipe and an ECU reflash (softronic?).
Do you lose the center display info (under the tach) with this change?
