Once you push the Sport button, both overboost and suspension stay in Sport till you change it or turn the engine off.
After 10 secs at WOT with overboost you are going how fast? On a track, I hope.
.."undriveable on anything but a smooth track in a 997.1" Absolutely not true. It is my default mode on public roads. Except with wife on a freeway long trip.
I have never heard of a cut off of overboost at 4K or any rpm. Where does this come from? Let me know if it is in the manual, I can go look it up.

Maybe i'll try it again on my 2008, I know they improved the car in 2008 so maybe this too. You got me curious now.

That's my interpretation anyway.

It is in the manual Terry also can be found in other pieces of Porsche literature promoting the sports mode upgade. The overboost is only produced between 2& 4k revs blending back into the boost values in the standard map thereafter.
That's my interpretation anyway.

Also says the Tiptronic S (mine) switches to a sporty gear changing map and shortens the gear shifting periods.
Maybe I did not notice a cutoff at 4K because I was already in the next gear.
Edit: Went out for a drive and saw 1.0 bar at 5K rpm w.o.t. in 2nd gear. May have seen 1.2 prior to 4K, but things were happening a bit fast.

My descriptions of the sport boost were probably oversimplified, but I was trying to save space. It sounds like the best way to describe the SC function is a boost remap between 2,100 and 4,000 rpms. The 10 seconds would only come into play in the highest gears.
And, the FVD tune doesn't result in a 74ftlb increase over the whole rpm range obviously. The boost remap affects the whole useable rpm range with a peak increase of 74ftlb.
The better distinction between the SC and tune would be a partial versus full remap, I guess.
As for sport PASM, you must have some smooth roads in the Chapel Hill area Terry. We've got some that are smooth enough in Charlotte, but not enough to make sport my default. Beyond road condition, I just find the sport PASM setting to be artificially stiff, or not sorted out, or something. It's one thing for the suspension to be stiff but balanced and sorted out. I do not consider sport PASM to be that. The car goes sideways on mid-corner bumps worse than it should, for example. My take is that the stiffer damper settings are out of sync with the softer springs (and perhaps sway bars) that are needed to provide the normal PASM setting. I'm no suspension expert though.

I just tested sport PASM for the first time on my '08 and I am pretty sure it is better than it was on my '07. Less jarring, more composed. I could imagine some people liking it. In fact it reminded me of my former 996 C4S.
Still after some testing I switched it of. Guess I am a softy![Wink](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif)
Throttle is also to nervous for my taste.

Went from a 06 C4S to a Gen2 C2s before the Turbo, PASM definitely more refined on the Gen2 car but softer, less what I was used to. Glad to get back in Gen1 car far better feel IMO.

Edit:
On further reflection and given the 10+ seconds it takes to get to the quarter mile, and 100 mph+ speed at the quarter mile, I can now see that you would be in the upper gears at that point.
But the boost is active through all the gears getting there.

I think what is being said is it's engine load that produces the overboost and by mechanical process the car will stay loaded for longer in the higher gears.
The lower ratio's / shorter gears will move from load and boost to cam timing/revs quicker by virtue of the shorter gears. (I know what I mean!)
