Advice on a 2008 TT...
I am considering a 2008 TT cab with 18750 miles that is out of warrenty. If it was a straight Carrera with the M97 engine I'd have more concerns but my understanding is that the TT has the GT1 Mezger engine that is pretty much bullet proof, correct?
Anyone have any advice? Obvious things to look for etc...?
Thanks in advance...

Ditto, and get the service history if possible. Spark plugs are the big 4-year/40K miles item.
A bad clutch pressure accumulator will make itself known through a stiff clutch at startup, which then softens after startup. If the accumulator is bad, then you have to look at the slave cylinder. One clue is pentosin migrating from the power steering pump to the clutch reservoir. Look at the clutch reservoir under the black plastic lid to the driver's side of the battery for any sign of leakage in that compartment.
Soap Box Time:
And don't freak out about some 1 and 2 overrev ignitions. If you drive the car the way it was meant to be driven, then you are going to put a few on yourself--no monkey shifts required.
A few 3's and 4's isn't that big of a deal either, IMHO. Many of the aftermarket tunes out there put these revs under a raised rev limiter, so they can't be that bad. Porsche CPOs cars with 3's and 4's--mine, for example. A lot of these revs would make me pause, but a few are probably harmless.

Have the paint checked with a paint meter so you are 100% sure car is clean. The older they get the more value an 'original paint' car will have.
And agree overrevs in the 1's and 2's are a non issue as are a few in 3 and 4's.
Although car is 4 years I would doubt very much the seller would want to change the plugs on an 18XXXmls car so don't let this deter you from buying the car. This too is a non issue.
Just make sure the car has seen a P dealer once or preferably twice (stamp in book)
I bought a 2008 a few months ago, no warranty, no plugs, no DME read out, due 4 year service. Looked the car over with a fine-tooth comp and checked the paint. No test drive, didn't even start the engine.
After I got it I had the 4 year service done without the plugs. Dealer said 'officially you have to, off the record it is a waste of money on a car with 12000 mls'.
Hope this helps.

Thanks guys. I'm off this am for another look at the car. I think it's beautiful but it's not selling for some reason and the price keeps dropping, which could be a good or bad thing. Maybe its too flashy for some, I don't know. Time for a PPI and a paint check.
It's at a Ferrari dealership and they've had it for a good while and are getting tired of it, so could be, with the month end in sight, setting up for a fair sale.

It's not selling because of the red interior.
Some potential buyers will like it but are afraid for resale value, others just hate it.
There are only few who like it and couldn't care less what it would bring come resale. Either they buy to keep or just love/want that interior color. Unfortunately for the F dealer those people are rare.
"Natural Leather Carrera red" was an option for the 2008 turbo and is extremely nice imo. The leather quality is several notches above a normal Porsche leather.
I have natural leather brown and the feel and look is stunning. My two previous turbo's felt like plastic inside compared to natural Porsche leather.
If you like the interior and the paint/ppi is okay than I would bargain hard and take it home. Good luck

I love the red interior!
The wheels have been refurbished, I dont think the classic turbos were available in all silver... They had anthracite grey on the sides of the spokes...
Good luck, and enjoy... Hope you close the deal.

When a car like this is for sale it is quite easy to bring doubt and confusion so I thought I would point this out, do not want to be a wiseass.

Thanks. I just spoke with the broker of the car and he knows the original owner well and everything was spec'd out, wheels etc... So it's a one-off, which is nice. The wheels BTW are spectacular. The car really looks 'alive'.

It's not just the wheels that are spectacular, it's the complete package. Silver with red is so extremely good looking, it is one of the dream combo's.
A shame it's so rare.
Hope you get it !!

PCCB's clash with the interior, the car is perfect !
I had 2 turbo's with and one without. It's all good !
The big advantage (as you know of course) is the lack of brake dust but beside that I was happy with both systems.
