i got lucky and bought mine 2 yrs ago with 1500k miles. was brand new basically. i leased it for 5 yrs with option to buy. i still love it an it has every option i would want plus more. I figure in 3 yrs i can just buy it if i still love it or lease another one. i disagree with you that a 2007 has no collection value. although not as desirable as a 2009 it is the last of the metzger engine turbos. 2007-2009 is the way to go and these have been tested to the extreme. good luck and hope you make out well

Buying a used car is always a gamble but at the same time you are able to save big time too. A 997.1 TT with a sticker of $156,000 with low miles is still going for mid to high 80's which is almost 50% of the MSRP, isn't that a good deal now?

The best thing would be to spend another $4000 and get an after market warranty and your problem is solved and that's exactly what i did

These are great cars and lovely drivers

I've seen 2010 TT and TTS lose 50k CHF in the each of the first two years (from 260k CHF to 150k CHF). First three years are a bitch.
But I expect my 2007 still lose value at the rate of 15k a year. At the very least.
I am switching from a very fast and much more practical (and cheaper all around) car to a 5 year old 911 Turbo. I chose to switch to a tuned one, as stock was no good for me and tuning 911 on my own is just too expensive. These cars are crazy expensive all round. Savings are relative.
Turbo is a very-long-time (10-15 years) desire. What's the price of the dream? I will find out.

[QUOTE=Lance 4c;9459716]This is why I sold my 993tt and bought a 996tt. My 993 hit the 25k mile mark, and each mile was causing resale depreciation, and distracted from my enjoyment. By it to drive it, and enjoy the ride. It won't go to zero (unless of course something really bad happens.) Yes, I will own a 997 or 991 in the future, but for me, I want to buy what I can afford (to lose).[/QUOTE

Too bad you sold the 993 TT, they are worth some big money now and a lot more than your 996 Turbo. Nearly all cars depreciate and there is no sense in keeping it nice for the next guy

No regrets on my sale! I sold it for way more with 25K mile on it's clock than the 02 996 I purchased with 5.6k miles. With the money differential, I am able to install UMW stage 2, Europipe, and more. I really am loving the 996, it rocks! I love every mile.

Kept my '91 Turbo and plan to keep my '07 Turbo. Both give as much pleasure today as they did when I first bought them.
The kids can play "rock paper scissors" to see who gets what when i'm gone.

Until then, make sure they keep the rock, paper and sissors away from your car!

True that.
Unless you are really tight, going from 260k CHF to 150k CHF in first two years, regardless of mileage, is scary.
New Turbos are overpriced.

Not at all scared. Just picked up an '07 with 34k miles and 15 months of CPO left for $70K even. I would have paid $70K for it without the warranty.
