need some feeback 997.1 TT purchase Canada
#16
Well after looking at all the cars sites in north america ) it appears that the 109k price is not bad. Maybe i am drinking the porsche alcohol and just want the car
The lower cost 09's have either a wrong colour package or have no warranty or are american cars with mysterious history.
I found some more expensive 09 TT's with soft leather seats ( i don't want that ) or convertibles that are 8-9k more expensive.
I don't want another black car but it seems like a good choice for resale.
My friends are telling me to get a TT convertible and have the best of both worlds.. I am not sure.

good deal on one, not just pay the premiums for the warranty, market price, etc. if you drive this one more than 3.5 years, it's now out of warranty, and you'll pry resell for at least $10-12K less or more.
Also, as you lose money on depreciation, I would not suggest you drop more $$ into mods; then you personalize it and the next potential buyer may be turned off by a "modded" 997 Turbo, that may or may not have been "thrashed" once in a while.
Otherwise, it's your money, spend as you like. good luck with your purchase
either way and P O S T P I C S!

Strange to see a .1 with centerlocks!
Enjoy I hope the deal works out, she looks great.
Change the side markers to white and enjoy. Do read up on the centerlocks and what it takes to install-unmount them, be sure you know more than the amateurs that may try to fiddle with it in the cars life!

Thanks again everyone for your comments.

Hey chandrew I'm also from Montreal and I bought a Canadian 997.1 2007 2 weeks ago from a dealer in Toronto. 1 owner Black on Black 6SP, 47 000km (29k Miles) and no warranty for 87k CAN.
I don't know if you looked at the market but IMO you paid way too much but it's your money.
Enjoy the car and we might see each other sometime this summer!

Well a 2007 with 47k kms vs a 2009 with 14k kms and 3.5 year warranty is a bit different I would think...
There is no such thing as paying too much or too little I really don't understand these comments. One man's deal is another mans bargain and v-v. In any case, when there is a trade in involved, it all boils down to trade in values and difference paid.

Thanks for sharing your info. 87k for an 07 with 47,000 km seems fair.
My thinking process i had was :
1) get an American car and risk not having the history/ not seeing the car before purchase. approx 85k to 95k US dollars before duties taxes etc. ( Still have to sell my 2 other p cars ).
2) Get a Canadian car like you did but have to sell my 2 other 911's and loose the tax savings. ( and deal with public sale / test drives / phone calls etc.).
2b) do an accomodation sale for my 2 p cars but have to find a buyer willing to pay for 2 taxes.. ( time / hassel etc ).
3) get the one i did and trade both 911.. Zero hassel and get my tax savings.

The sales receipt of my new car was 201,600.00 $ with tax in 2009
I did a large spreasheet to compare cars to cars : option lists and market value based on millage / age / color combo / extra stuff / extra warranty / no warranty etc.

So for a 3 year car at 109,000.00$ with :
3.5 year warranty , TAG tracking device , front car wrap protective film , 14,000km and the RS spyder wheels that i really wanted is not bad.
As for the black color + Full compoud +( I decided todo a full "clear"wrap of the entire car ). ( I cant pay 300-400$ per year on compound/wax/ loose the car for 2-3 days and time going back and forth to proshop etc ).
I bet we will see each other this summer .. not many 997 turbos in mtl.
