Default 6SPD or TIP ?

Looking at a few 07 Turbo cars and the question for you current owners is what you think about the 6 SPD ?
I had a 03 TT X50 6 SPD and I found it difficult under heavy acceleration going from 1st to 2nd. I had to shift so fast, as soon as the boost hit to keep from the fuel cutoff engaging.
Does the 997 TT have better acceleration characteristics ?

My take on this: the Tiptronic is so good (and the PDK even better), that unless you love driving a manual, the new auto-boxes are just as fast, if not faster. I'm afraid that my personal taste is for the manual gearbox, but I also don't like auto wipers, headlights, mirrors, or anything else. I can barely stand self-canceling blinkers. I hate the "I'm too stupid to park my own car" option and blind-spot warnings. Etc. But I'm a really old geezer.

I went from an 04 996 6 Spd to an 07 TT tip. Love the tip. It gets even better when in heavy stop and go traffic.

Crazy...thats the car I spotted on their site. Same color and simular options as my 07 C4S.

Just need to find a new home for my car first...

I have no issues in my '09 6 speed. Didn't have any on the '04 C4S Cab either. Not a tip fan (driven a few earlier ones, but not the PDK yet). On the '07 I think the fun is rowing the gears. Do you have issues with your C4S shifting now? Or it is just slamming the go pedal and hitting boost early that threw it? (first is pretty short)

very short 1st in the TT I had. The 07 4S is just fine, very linear like all NA.

I'm sure its a learning curve with the boost hitting, thats why I go back and forth with GT3 cars and a TT. Both are going to be priced basically the same for what I'm finding.

I had a 996 X50 turbo and find my 997 turbo far easier to drive fast and shift well. The boost is less perceptible and I noticed the same hitting the limiter in my X50. Even my wife says the 997 TT is easy to drive. I had an 08 C4S and the difference to the turbo is night and day. I recognize your C4S from Exotic Motors here in the STL. You should be able to drive a TT as they often have them.
I drove both PDK and manual before I ordered and don't regret the manual. Tip is junk unless you like to put it in drive and not get involved.

On the fence about getting out of it , and into a TT or GT3. Not sure what I'll
do, if anything.

The guys at Exotic Motors would like to have my C4S back, but I need to find something truely better than what I have now. Thats why I backed off of getting a newer C4S...it wasn't that much different/better than my 07.

I may go back to a very nice 993...I knew I would regret selling my 96 C4S

Just picked up a TT in Speed Yellow Manual. Man - this thing hits the top end of 1st in like no time flat. Quickest 1st gear I have ever had.

That being said, I have been a manual guy my whole life. I can't imagine having a car like this where the computer has the ability to shift on me when I am not expecting it.

That being said, the ability to keep boost when shifting from 1st to 2nd might just make the Tip worth it.

That also being said, I did buy the manual...

Just my .02

It's a quick shift just as the boost hits , it had a learning curve for sure...I can also see how the auto box is quicker on the 0-60.
