Default Guards red???

Man im not kidding I have been watching these cars on Ebay and all the other places for at least a year and a half, I think I have seen about 4 guards red cars and most of those were automatics. Why are there so few??? It seems they are all silver or grey mostly. Did Porsche stop using that color so much???

My understanding is White is the new "in" color...but Silver has always been the most popular color for all cars. Porsches may be different. But I agree - I don't see many Guards Red...I thought mine was "Guards Red" when I bought it but it turned out to be a Special order red "Amulet Red".

Boeing, you going to the Autocross this weekend @ AMS?

Could be that many owners of Guards Red Porsche really love the car because it's such a stunning color, so they are not selling.

Just sayin'....

It doesn't seem to be as popular but I see them around quite a bit.
Black is most common in my locale...

I can't figure it out either. Red seems just as rare as yellow here. Heck, I might see blue more often than red as well.

Well when the time comes for me to pull the trigger im hoping for Red but im worried its gonna extend my search for a lot longer. Blue would be my second choice followed by silver. I did see one car in a color that i think was called charcoal grey?? And that looked really nice but I think ive only seen one.

The majority of new Porsche buyers are looking to minimize the inevitable: new car depreciation. So they buy the color they think most used Porsche buyers are looking for: silver or black. Perhaps they would have enjoyed a nice red, white, blue or ... yellow! But they put up with their second choice for a couple years, maybe a 4 year lease at the most.

I have averaged 10 years, 16K/year on the last 3 Porsches I have owned. Resale is not a consideration, so I get to drive the color I like.

Default Guards Red Is Still The Fastest

Last week I ordered a 2012 Turbo S in Guards Red. This will be my ninth Porsche in thirty yesrs and the eighth Guards Red.
You are correct, Red is very hard to find. The last two were an 08 cab C4S and an 09 coupe C4S. I traded them in. Each one lasted only a week on the dealer's show floor. They had many calls from outstate dealers looking for Guards Red.
All I can say is, I get a lot of compliments on the color.
My wife has a BMW 335ix four door and it is Briliant Red. She also gets many compliments from guys on the color.

Not a Turbo, but a new red Carrera S.

Sincerely,

Macster.
