What are the differences, if any? Are spring rates, bushings, mounting points different? Is stock alignment different?

I'm surprised the springs were the only change. Car and driver has the 997tt s 10 sec faster per lap than 997.1 TT at VIR. I know the extra hp and pdk would help, but I thought it would take more than that to make a 10 sec difference. Maybe ptv?

My 2011 tts feels more planted than my stock 09 tt even in a straight line - it can't be just the springs. If that is all it is, I'll change the springs on my 09.

It is not as much as people think. The key different was with the 2008 model where Porsche changed the rear crossmember to correct geometry issues and changed the rear dampers. The differences between an 08' and a 997.2 are:
springs (uses the same damper/shock)
damper control unit (PSM module)
upper wishbones
rear sway bar
sway bar end links
toe settings are slightly different for the alignment
The difference you are feeling is most likely due to the spring rate and sway bar changes affecting weight transfer.
Remember that the 997.2 is a faster accelerating car, especially with the PDK. One of the magazines got a 6MT to run an 11.2 in the 1/4, a good half second faster than the best 1/4 mile time off a 997.1. PDK of course was faster. The bigger displacement higher compression 9A1 motor also has noticeably less lag coming off the corners. I would expect power delivery to be a key factor in those time improvements. The later car probably also was equipped with dynamic engine mounts and torque vectoring, which both will improve the stability of the car.

Sounds like they copied what I did to my 08 car then - other than PSM reprogramming and keeping the same dampeners. The 997.2 Turbo does feel a lot closer to my car I must say.

Sorry for hijack here. I am beginning to think about replacing the shocks on my 47K '08 TT. Indy told me the rears are getting a bit saggy, and this was about the mileage where my 993 shocks started the same issue.
I could accept a bit firmer. I will likely ask and get them done at SharkWerks when it's time.
What is the recommended part?
