Default Best sounding after market mufflers?

Looking for a turbo and would really like to duplicate the absolutely intoxicating note I get with the Tubi mufflers on my current 4S. Rumor has it it's tough to make the turbo sound good and having been behind enough of them in traffic, I'm beginning to believe it. They're gone in a second but you wouldn't know it just by listening. I don't want loud. Just growl, grunt and gurgle. Not the kitchen blender sound that turbo stock reminds me of. TIA for any opinions.

I have PSE on my 05 S and I think its a great sound, actually on the louder side but great for my taste. I intensely disliked the quiet sound on my TT and added the Milltek exhaust. The Milltek is definitely an improvement, louder, however it is not really "loud". I have not personally experienced others but did a lot of digging around on line, youtube vids, etc. My impression is that the TTs are just different and unless you run bypass pipes you may find life quieter than in your past!

Start with the videos on the Europipe website and decide if any of those stages work for you.

BTW, most people use the term 'exhaust' rather than muffler ... In case you are searching this or the 996Turbo forum

Well, I realize that but I was trying to get input on the muffler portion alone as opposed to a complete exhaust system with cats, headers and all. The only thing I replaced on the current car were the mufflers and I can't see how any additional parts could improve on the sound I have. Would be a waste of money.

Most, if not all, the turbo exhaust systems include high performance cats. That's where the primary performance improvement comes from not the mufflers.

I have the Tubi on my '09 Turbo and the sound is great. But much depends on what you want to hear - I was shooting for as close to a PSE sound as possible, a bit throaty, not too much to draw neighbors attention as I drive in, etc. Tubi did the trick for me.

I understand that but I'm not chasing another 15 HP. Just a better exhaust note than stock which for my likes is too gentle and doesn't match the car's character. Looks like you're right about how the turbo systems are sold though. Haven't found one yet that's just a pair of mufflers.

I also have the tubi on my turbo and it made a great improvement over the stock system.

I have the Europipe and love the acoustical note it applied. Check out their web site or You tube and listen to the videos. A great mod that's worth it.

I have the europipe stage 1 as well, recently installed. Can't get over what an improvement in the driving experience it is. From the behaviour of the tip to the sound of the car, and the speed at which the turbos spool.
The turbo system is different than the na engine. One or two cans centrally located unlike the na which goes one on each side. The cats are part of the system, I do not believe they are screwed together but rather are welded. Note that despite their poor look, consensus seems to be that headers are very efficient and should only be changed after other mods. So you are looking at mufflers and cats.

As a previous owner of a C4S with PSE let me tell you that you will not be getting that tone of sound from the turbo with an aftermarket exhaust. You will be getting a different sound, much deaper, less raspy and certainly equally intoxicating. Good luck.

Many thanks to all for your input to a poorly worded question. Obviously there is no "best" when it comes to sound. At least it's down to 5 options now.

I like the FVD system... The system produces aggressive throaty sounds under 3500rpm and it's a beast over 4000rpm.
