Default Painted side skirts on new Turbo or not?

I'm a newbie to rennlist, but I am going on my 3rd Turbo next year. I'm ordering an 11' Cab with 6 speed and it is very well optioned. The only thing I can't decide on is whether or not to paint the front, side and rear skirts. If the car were black or dark, I don't think it would matter. Mine is going to be GT Silver so it totally changes the look of the car. Any opinions on this option? Is it worth the extra $1,800?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

No comment other than I consider the front skirt a maintenance item, since it seems to get thrashed from normal driving.

I just got my white .2TT and I'm having the front, sides, and back painted next week. I find the car looks imcomplete if its not painted plus it makes the car look lower.

I agree, my 07 only has 4500 miles on it in 4.5 years and although the paint on the car is flawless, there are some minor scrapes on the unpainted front apron.

If you don't mind me asking, are you paying less than $1800 for the paint job? If so, I could probably just paint them at some point in the future.

Do it, but do it after delivery. Find a high end local shop that knows how to paint them - it's more than just painting - you have to tint the formula to account for lower panels and how they appear in light - it's not the same formula as if they were painting your door or hood.

Get an extra front lip from a dealer, and have it done at the same time. Then you have your spare to rotate once/year.

This is exactly what I did when mine was delivered. Took 9 variants of Arctic before we made our own, and here are the results:

A must - no ifs ands and buts in my opinion...particularly on a light coloured car. Even though mine was Basalt Black, I still optioned the side skirts, front and rear lip/ apron painting as well as the mirror attachement points. It finished the car that much cleaner...

It all depends on how often the front spoiler kisses the floor.
In the office building we are moving to, the ramp is such that I barely touch the ground both on the way in and out. Thus, under no circumstance would I have a painted front spoiler! My partner has a white TT painted all around, so we will have to change the ramp or else he will not be going in the garage.

If it is an absolute must and you wont be kissing the floor too often, I love Eric's idea about having a spare one to rotate. Good luck. I would opt for later, not now, I think 1800 seems a lot.

Def paint them. My front and sides are painted. It's noticeable and looks good. Harder to see the rear apron, but when I spec'd my 2010, that wasn't an option. Figured I would do it after delivery, but because it's not so obvious, it hasn't been a priority for me.

Do what Eric says, do them post manufacture by someone who knows how to do these things. Also I would get several extras and paint them, not just one. This way you can have an extra for whoever you sell the car to when you upgrade when the 991 TT gets here in a few years.
