Default PDK TT drivers?

I was wondering about how fast that thing must be. I have driven a Tip 997 and a Tip 996 TT.
Yesterday I lined up my C2S PDK against a 500hp 996 TT Manual tranny.
The TT driver was driving my car and a VARA racer was driving his TT.
The PDK took a car length lead from 5-90 and still ahead at 120.
I was amazed how fast the run of the mill C2S is. What really blew
my mind is WHOA! how fast a 997 TT PDK must be. That must be
like being shot off a carrier!

The pdk TT is extremely fast, especially in sport plus mode. Having driven the pdkc2s on the track recently I can tell you it would take a very well driven GT3 to beat one on the track. No telling how fast the pdktt will be, rumors suggesting a ~7:30ish 'ring time, might not be too far off.

It's 'okay' - I wasn't blown away with my day with 10 of them at the Porsche Silverstone testing circuit:

But then my Stage II gen1 manual car does have 100 Nm more torque...

If that's true then that will be more down to the handling improvements and not PDK. A manual in the hands of a pro would still be faster around a track.

Alex, I used to think the same thing as you, but driving the PDK on the track changed my mind. It's really quite amazing.

Alex,
the PDK is faster than any human can shift. There is no way a well driven manual is better than the PDK.
Even Michael Schumacher would be faster in a PDK.
Your argument was valid 10 years ago.
AND it helps a GREAT deal on the track. Just managing your corners and proper gear selection
is where the PDK is going to make a HUGE difference on the track.

Change ups are fast in a PDK Turbo, change downs have a definite lag that Porsche needs to sort out. It's not perfect yet guys....

Why would a down shift be different and slower? The ECU already knows what you are going to do.
So it only has to place the coasting gear and wait till its selected. The same process it does on an upshift.

Guys as you know I have a 2010 TT PDK. It is very fast and tremendously quick when in Sport or Sport Plus mode. I love driving it in manual or drive . What I especially love is that there isn't much lag between gear shifts, because the other transmission has the next appropriate gear ready for you to either shift up or down depending on how you're driving. I did find that initially the ECU had to acclimate itself to your style of driving. And when it did it was there to assist you with your driving as if you had a private co-pilot. I'm finally past my break in miles and so recently I just wanted to see what the PDK could do in drive mode, with Sport Plus selected. All I can say is I had to shut things down when I hit fourth gear. As you know, when in Sport Plus mode the ECU will only shift close to red line for each gear. And will only utilize the first six gears. The power and G-force that I felt going from 2nd to 3rd and then to 4th where earth shattering. There was know way I could continue safely at that acceleration so I just took my foot off the gas and took a deep breath and just said wow. I knew then that the only way I could truly test this new beast was on a track. So that is why I'm signing up for a DE event at Lime Rock this summer. I'll give you my impressions of its first track outing at that time. Until then if you have the opportunity to purchase or drive the new PDK TT do so. You wont be dissapointed.
It is everything Porsche has advertised.

Can't wait for Porsche to get the PDK sorted out for the next generation Turbo. Hopefully we will be seeing consistent zero to sixties in sub three seconds all day long.

They're seeing that now according to the factory drivers at the PSDS.
Jay, you won't be disappointed, just leave it in auto sport plus and go!
