Thats about the retail price. The Gt1 motor is very expensive to produce so guess what...Weideling the manufacturing genuis will use the modular motor although its' been re-egineered in the 2010+ turbo or whenever they decide to release it. Porsche going down market from a race proven block to the unproven.
Don't expect the modular motor to with stand mega hp upgrades.

There's a reason the GT1 motors cost 50K and the wet sumps are 10K. Think about it. Which one is gonna do 100k and come back asking for more? Which motor does Porsche choose to race? nuff said.

I had a 997 C4S (manual) and loved it... then I got a TT (manual) and it really is stupendous. I love the felxibility of the TT and it is far more forgiving and yet has incredible performance. Then there is the mind blowing whoosh of the turbos... just not there in the C4S. As has been stated before, drive them both and decide which you are comfortable with for the type of driving you have in mind. In either case congratulations and enjoy your dream car. FWIW, I would go for a manual TT.
