Default 2010 Turbo

Spec'd out an '09 C4S and ended up within spitt'n distance of a turbo. So here I am. Hey!

Searched this site for the latest on the 2010 model and didn't come up with any current info. Could someone point me in the right direction as to what the 2010 might, or is going to, have in terms of all the good stuff. New block, DFI, PDK, exterior changes, etc. Seems like some sort of news would be out if the 2010 is being released as a Spring 2009 model? Thanks and Happy Holidays.

Regards, Dave

I'll be looking to purchase a 2007 or 2008 997TT next year when you guys trade up to the 2010 TT, so keep me in mind!

I think I've read somewhere that the 2010TT will get DFI and PDK, minor cosmetic changes, interior upgrades along the lines of the new 911s (better nav, etc.).

2009 Turbos have the upgraded nav, bluetooth, iPod, etc. If you want the "GT1 block", the 2009 is the best of the bunch.

No, no, no, you've got it all wrong - the 2010 is the car to have, the 2007 - 2009 are crap in comparison, and the used prices will drop precipitously!

Ha ha! Right!

So please don't go ordering a 2009 Turbo with sport bucket seats, atlas gray, manual, w/BT, ipod, etc. for me to buy when you trade for a 2010...

doc
I'm willing to wait. I drove an '092S with the pdk. I think the turbo with the pdk would be a great setup.

Chris and ltc
The GT1 block?
Is the new engine in the '09 models considered to be inferior to the GT1 block? Will the new engine not be a good platform for twin turbos in 2010? Any good reading that dicusses the pros and cons and what Porsche has planned?

Thanks

The 9A1 block is unproven compared to the GT1 block, but not necesssarily inferior to it.

Changes to the 2010 turbo include:
9A1 engine block (just like in the Boxster and Cayman!)
DFI (=more torque and more hp)
PDK
Dumbo ears side mirrors
That sweet reflector strip across the back of the car
The Lexus-style tail lights
Higher price

Some good, some bad, IMHO

any mass produced wet sump is inferior by definition. This doesn't make it bad just not in the same league as the dry sump gt1 engine.

Only time will tell.

I can look underneath my 964 Euro Cup, wife's 993 Targa and my 996TT and realize exactly how well (and how long) that M64/GT1 derived lump has done.

It's like wooden floor boards in the Cup car, it just seems 'right'.

Don't hold your breath guys and hope for miricles with the new engine. A little birdie told me today that with the new emission standards Porsche needs to add a second set of injector WITH the DFI injectors to make it pass. Go figure. All the new money invested in the new engine and it is most likely will use the standard intake manifold injectors on start up with air pumps prior to the engine getting warm. Clearly this was a compromise. Do some of you remember the old thermal reactors. It's going to be tough to welcome the new engine. A word of advise>> Don't buy the first year out of the gate.

I don't think Porsche will do this. It defeats the purpose of the new injector technology. I heard they're putting two Holley four barrel carbs on the manifold for cold start and warm-up. Plus thermal reactors, air-pump and EGR off a 77 California emissions-legal 911S. (they had a bunch on the shelf still) Just a little something I think I heard from someone who saw on YouTube that someone read it somewhere. Yeah, that's the ticket.

I'm in total agreement with PerPow. I understand that the need for more oxygen will be met by adding a nitrous system. With that and a couple of twin-pumper Holley 4 pots that bitch will really blow and go.
