Default 997 Turbo S

Anyone know roughly when the Turbo S is due and what the price will be.

Thanks
Rick

I'd bet on '10.

Price? No idea. Guessing 15-18k over TT.

Actually that brings a good point. Problem is, when they do offer the Turbo with the new DFI engine, that car will already have a HP bump. So why offer the Turbo S? It doesn't make marketing sense.....

unless it was a 2011/2012 version. Gotta give the DFI engine time to sell.

Or come out of the box offering the Turbo as an "S" with the new DFI engine.

Just a thought.

I'm thinking maybe they offer a TTS in '10 that is all the leftover GT1 blocks and a typical parts bin dump-fest. Then the TT for '10 has 500hp DFI, and the TTS has the older GT1 block plus numerous other goodies, maybe in the 550 range or above.

That would be very smart. Look what happened in '97/'98 when they had about 2500 993 wide bodies left over from the TT and built them out as a 993S.

No premium, in fact I got a $2500 discount when I ordered my '98 993S, but by the time I took delivery they were going for a premium. And still do in the used market.

If I was in the market by then, I would rather have my new TTS with the GT1 block.

Yes, I have no interest in the new block in a tt.

Hopefully the new Turbo S will keep it's value better than the last one.

Dreaming.

As soon as the 998/991 iteration hits, the TTS, though a real keeper in most owner's minds, will drop in value accordingly. As a higher priced list, it will still hold more value above a non S Turbo, but I would not be buying it for value, there are very few Porsches you can really say have 'value'.....at least in my mind.

I don't think they will make a Turbo with more HP than a GT2 unless the GT2 is out of production by then.
