New 997TT Motor?
I found this link:

over at 6speedonline (997TT forum) and an spy image of the upcoming facelited 997 TT. I am not trying to stir anything up and this may be old news but take a look at the engine sump - looks like a derivative of the NA 997 motor, not the split case GT1-based motor. One can also see the turbos on either side of the sump - so this seems to be real image of things to come.

No more GT1 derived professional grade engine. Instead a cheaper and weaker consumer grade M97 Turbo engine is probably to come for the MY2010 facelft. That (along with a PDK transmission capable of only 700Nm torque) could mean the end of aftermarket tuning, currently a HUGE selling point of the Turbo.

PAG and Dr. W will run away from the expense of the M64/GT1 as fast as possible.
Amazing, the internal marketing survey was convincing.....the number of Porsche owners who would actually care if their car had a M64/GT1 derived lump could have been counted on one hand.......the Porsche demographic shift during the reign of Dr. W is complete and irreversible.

I thought about the parts availability issue, but I figured Porsche would continue to build and race the M64 motor and keep it available in a much smaller number of street cars to meet homologation rules (special models, etc). The M64 motor could be ordered as an uber expensive option at the consumer's pocketbook choice.

They will simply race whatever they are given/allowed to.....period.
It simply doesn't make sense for them to continue to carry forward (not now, but very soon) 2 totally different engines, especially since virtually all of the marketing/demographic data suggest that the customer base:
A. doesn't care
B. wouldn't know a dry sump from a dry martini.

argh!!! maybe thats why they put out that video with the direct inject M97 on a gyro jib, getting "simulated" for Nurburgring loop. they know we're going to be freakin' pissed!

Don't jump to conclusions. You might be very surprised at what Porsche does with that engine. and it's not all about saving themselves a few Euro.
