We ran back to back 3-4 times. I saw the 08 Viper put about 3 car lengths on the 05 Supercharged Viper. The S/C 05 Viper ran a 10.0 second 60-130. A stock C6Z06 ran a 9.5, turbo charged C5Z06 ran a 7.5. My car ran a 7.7. I think the exhaust modded Viper might run close to my chipped 997tt, but no way it is going to be much faster. Also after 130mph the Viper will start suffer badly from the aerodynamic drag factor (Cd 0.4)

This is what you need to upgrade to take care of that viper.....

AAHTT - awww how cute your let the snails come out to play
Butt ugly or not I would still like to test drive one
I like the last of the R34 V-Specs with the whole aero kit and gold racing rims Call me old school. I just wouldn't pay over 100k for it so hence the 997TT instead.
I am sure the price point won't be near it's asking for about a year. I would like to see how low it will fall after the initial release. It would be a great 2nd car to tool around with.
We all have our opinions and some stand very close to "Other" Engineering outside of Japanese while others just go where they want. But we have to give the Japanese credit where it is due. They have created a lot of buzz, good numbers on this car and have given it some nice gadget in typical Japanese fashion. We also can thank them for showing Porsche how to run a tigher assembly/production line because without that Porsche would not be where they are now. So do give them some credit
Happy Motoring as the MINI Cooper club would say

This is a good point... If the 3rd year prices (i.e. off-lease) come down to the $50K-ish range, I would love one to back up my RS4 (or whatever I'm driving then).

Hey eugene, that viper is making close to 700hp and needs 10.7 to reach 133mph, so assuming its 0-60 with good traction is 3.7, that leaves 7 seconds for 60-133 which is a bit faster than a chipped TT with exhaust. The 133 mph trap speed cannot be duplicated by a stage 2 TT, mine could not break 126 mph (PBOX) during the TX mile event.

I don't think most people will be able to hook up a 3.7 0-60 on the Viper, and the 10.7 was on drag radials with a water box/VHT. I think his best on street tires was an 11.3. Even at 3.7 seconds 0-60 that would leave a 7.6 second 60-133 which is only a smidge faster - after that the 997tt should take back over handily when the Viper hits the aero wall.

Nice turbos!

The Toyota Supra and the R34 spec Skyline are the two best Japanese cars period. The Supra won the Texas mile event , take a look at this video it is just sick!

Chuck that is just crazy! Thanks for posting..
The inline 6 is a beast in sheep's clothing..
I think if they evolved the R34 V-Spec to some rounded lines and kept the interior functional without all the "Oooohs and Ahhhhs" they could have a bigger winner. But then again as mentioned above I am partial to old school V-Spec R34's.
Eclou - how are you enjoying the new beaut in your garage I am sure you tooling around with it on weekends aren't you?
Chris - If you did get a backup - I think you would find yourself driving it more than you realize. I know I would because of the DSG. Some people argue the DSG installed in a Nissan/Datsun isn't a real experience but I am sure those same people are inquiring about it for the 997's if they release it in 2009.

Someone mention R34 V Spec.????
Absolute beaut-i-mus max-i-mus!
Guys there are a few things to consider on the RB26 on the Skylines (2.6L straight 6)...if used on a LHD chassis car for the US \ North American market, the turbos would conflict \ hit with the steering shaft going into the rack...also the RB26 was developed from the RB20 which debuted in 1984 and emissions as Chris from Cali mentioned these engines would never meet.
The BMW straight sixes and esp. the new straight sixes are a much more modern much cleaner more efficient engine (direct injection etc etc).
