Smart top - group buy
#16
I was just checking out smart tops web-site catalog. I'm a little confused sorry but what are the benefits of the remote key?
I know I want the smart top unit so that I can lower & raise the top w/ one touch operation & want to be able to also do so w/ key but it says you use the factory key??????????
Anyone?

Greg,
From looking at that PDF file. It looks like the smarttop module already includes all the functions of the remotekey unit. The remotekey are for those non-cabrios.

I read through it too and it does appear that it does both. I put a call into the head guy at SmartTop to make 100% sure. I will get the RemoteKey removed and update the list.

What the brochure does not address is once you hold briefly the keyfob button to close, if the doors will automatically lock.
In other words I would like to get out of the car after driving with the top down. Push the keyfob to start the close routene and walk away. The car would then: close the top, close the windows, lock the doors and the beep to confirm.
Any one know if the previous steps would be followed or would I have to wait for closure and then push the keyfob to lock?
If it would do everything, I am interested.

BooBoo996, with the smart key module for the 996 (which appears to be included with the 997 smart top) when the lock door button was pressed and held for a few seconds, it would lock the doors and then raise the top and windows. I would assume it will do the same for the 997.
