As far as we understood, the only way to tell the firmware upgrade "took" was that the file on the USB stick disappeared & was replaced with another file. This happened so I assume it took. I'll get the car back to DD hopefully later this week to try the aux switch thing (I'd rather they take apart my interior than do it myself) & let you know. Thanks.
What a PIA at least the only thing my nav-tv unit does is the old "no cd changer" every once in a while. I think all of the ipod interfaces have bugs, some more than others. Maybe the Porsche thing ain't so bad.
I have had intermittent problems with mine as well (dension)...although no problems with upgrading the firmware. My problem was it was draining the iPod til the point the iPod would not come on...hence is not found by the dension unit (I have to take it out and recharge it). I decided to get a new iPod...so far so good...3 days. The MB interface (factory) makes all of the Porsche solutions look like sh*t. It works off the steering wheel and never has a problem.
Reset the Dension with the button on top of the AUX switch, then toggle the AUX switch six times. Pull out the iPod and reset the iPod (hold down main wheel at 12 o'clock and middle for a few seconds).
Power down the car, arm it for 10 minutes.
Reconnect iPod, start vehicle. See if that solves it.
100% sure the firmware took on the upgrade?
So, Eric, let me ask a couple of things before I try this:
Does it matter whether I do this indoors or outdoors?
What about the weather?
Is there specific required theme music that has to be playing while it's done?
What color underwear should be worn during the process for best results?
I feel like a kid being jerked around by an older sibling to see how much stupid stuff he can get me to do
Kidding, of course. I'm hopefully doing to give it a try this afternoon & I'll let you know how it goes.
