Got my Car and Driver and R8 beats TT!
Wow, they picked the R8 over the TT. They said the TT had snap oversteer that prevented them from driving at the limit, so it got spanked by the R8 on the track. The R8 is the current glamour boy so I can see how it won. Some nice design touches. But no rear seats so that keeps me from getting one right now. BTW, the Aston AMV8 was a distant 3rd.

Quoting a mag article does not mean a lot. Whats you personnal experience with both cars ? Or are you just repeating what you have been fed ?
BTW, EVO is a suck mag, the only one that counts is Sport Auto when it comes to performance tests and they use 2D if you even know what that is.

I just read the article, my take is the mag drivers didn't have the ***** to drive the Porsche hard enough the track. They should have used pro drivers, or at least somebody with some Porsche track experience. WTF is the AM doing in that mix? The R8 is the darling of the automotive "jounalists" currently , so the outcome was predictable.

car and driver always has some subjective Bull$hit in there to throw the contest in what ever direction the biggest advertiser is. I remember reading a comparison of the best performance sedans. The Lexus GS300 beat the winner in every performance category but lost 5 points to the winner on trunk space! TRUNK space. The Lexus came in second by one point- so dont worry about any of those rags
MT or CD or Road and track. One of them has the "Got to have it factor" as a real category for points.
they can make whom ever they want to win-win. Its really quite humourous.

C'mon which would you really rather have a TT or a freakin' audi?
There is no way in hell that a C4S spanks the r8 and the r8 turns around and takes a TT by 3 seconds. Perhaps they had inexperienced drivers in the 911.

Since very few of you drive at the "ring" the times there are kinda pointless it seems.
The "subjective bull****" is exactly what makes a 911 "feel" good. There are faster cars with a better design but subjectively it's great....and so it goes for the R8.
Also, since few people who are going to buy a 997TT or an R8 are pro drivers, why should they test with one? If the average good driver (DE stuff, maybe an instructor) can go faster in the R8, what makes you think that YOU (any of you who that applies to) can do better in the TT? If I'm in an R8 and you are in a TT (and let's say we drive about the same) then guess who's waiting for a signal to pass?
While i think that the R8 is a wonderful car (from what it looks like and seems to perform like), I don;t think that it will adversly affect Porsche's sales TOO badly.
Anyway, I think it was a cool test and while the TT is clearly the faster car in the straights, many of us like the corner stuff too!

Which transmission did the R8 have - a manual or DSG?
