Default Park Assist?

What are the thoughts on the Park assist? I realize it would probably be a benefit when parallel parking, or backing up to a wall. I wish they could figure out how to make it totally integrated into the bumper.

I can't really say it's a bad idea. But, let's face it. If your driving a $130-140+K car, you're gonna be real careful when parking. If you've driven 911's before, you kinda know the dimensions. Having said that, I have to admit that I'd rather have the parking assist in the FRONT. D-oh! I've bumped the nose into a couple of parking lot stops before I really got the feel for the invisible front end, which sticks out a lot more than my old car (930).

Useless. Plus it messes up the rear bumper. Have it. Don't like it. Would never order it.

No, not at all. It's just a sensor to let you know if you're getting close to something. I assume you're talking about the self-park the Lexus has.

Thanx Holli82. I just got thru speccing my car and was beginning to feel ashamed that I'd despoiled my car with a hideous blemish by ordering parkassist. Now I feel more comfortable in the belief that it's too cheap not to order, a no-brainer if you will. I went through the same process with the LSD.

And, I actually LIKE those little nipples on the rear fender!

I say, get whatever you want! You're missing the point if you shell out the big biccies on the car, then fret about a few pennies on options that will make it truly yours! The crazy number of things to completely confuse you on the options list is half the pleasure of buying the car... you can begin to enjoy it a year before you take delivery! What great value!!

I wouldn't have ordered it but the car I bought had it - and so far I do like the piece of mind it offers. The biggest drawback in my mind are the "dots" on the bumper. The only real damage I've ever done to a 911 was backing a 1971 911T into a telephone pole in a parking lot. The only consolation was it gave me an excuse to get it painted.
