Went to a small private track to test the car out today. Did not push it too hard since I only have about 900 miles on it so far.
Impressions:
1)if the surface is not glass smooth, car works better in the softer PASM mode
2)car has a tendency for slight understeer on stock tires - I have the RE50A's on mine. Handlings is otherwise very neutral and stable. This chassis is hard to unsettle. It can compensate for suboptimal lines and late braking into turns and inappropriate throttle off oversteer.
3)plenty of power. No problems fending off a new Z06 and chasing down a Noble. There is so much torque that you can hold a car in fewer gears and concentrate on turn in and braking without sacrificing power out of turns. On a longer course, this car would be a monster. Even on a short tight course (like today) it does well.
4)car feels much more nimble with quicker turn-in using Hoosiers. I ran 245/35/18 fronts and 305/30/18 rears. The Hoosiers in combination with stock C4 5 spokes are about 3-5# lighter per corner.
5)steel brakes are more than adequate. No chance of fade or soft pedal on the stock pads after 3 hours/80 miles of track time. Also, only a moderate amount of brake dust!
6)18" wheels have just enough clearance between the rotor and the rim to sneak wheel strap tie-downs on for trailering.
7)sport adaptives made racing shells unnecessary for support. The only thing I would want are some 4 pt harnesses.

The 5 spokes are Porsche Carrera III's in the exact same offsets as a stock 997 turbo - the same offset is used on the C4 and C4s cars. No spacers required, and clears the steel brakes without problems. I was even able to fit tie down wheel straps through each. I got them off eBay as new take-offs from a Florida Porsche dealership for $1300. Combine those with a set of RS304, 05, or 06's at ~ 1K and you have a nice durable set of perfect fitment TUV approved track wheels and tires for about $600 per corner.
The exhaust is almost imperceptible on the track, especially with other cars around.

That does make a 997TT seem svelte.

If you were the one in the black 993, I would say I heard your exhaust far more than I heard mine. Mine sounded like a Dyson inside the cabin
Now that the new Hoosiers are scrubbed, my wife will be able to burn them up at TWS in Dec

The stock exhaust sounded really good. I remember seeing you coming up on the pit wall and waved you past so I could hear your car as well as see the brute power.
Next time...maybe a ride? I'm planning on going again before the end of the year. Typically I do the weekday events often with James and David.

I found that I could easily out brake the Nobel at the end of the straights, but they are stinking quick there. AWD along with Please Save Me also make the 997TT less of a handfull when putting the power down.
BTW, I'm running the stock PS2s.

Did you guys do the LSR DE at MSR? I was going to go but was going to Dallas yesterday. I might make it to the December one at TWS. Hope to see you guys there. BTW, nice house eclou!
