Smile Ditto!

My second son just got the same color 07 in Florida and had it shipped home. He loves it and from every article I've read says it's suppose to be brutally fast. Hate to have him blow me away in any of my cars cause I'd never hear the end of it. He'd love to give one of my cars a try. That's how those young punks are...... all they wanna do is shut your *** down! Mags

(Isn't the mullet in that smiley appropriate . . . j/k)

Excellent choice! Man that red is a gorgeous color. BMW's imola red used to be my all time favorite red, but from the picture that looks like a winner.

What are your plans for the car; i.e. what are you going to do with it? Street, track, daily driver, weekend car . . . . . . . . . mods

Thanks guys, and the PHD is right, good add-on, but most definitely not a replacement! I am looking forward to getting it. It will be here later this month via FEDEX Passport, Intercity was too busy with the Pebble Beach show on the Left Coast. I bought the Z06 from Kerbeck out of NJ, so I was going the wrong direction.

If I had some extra time right now, I would have hopped on a plane and drove that sucker back cross country... in the meantime, I am grateful to have another set of "wheels" to drive.

Doc, I paid MSRP and $139 documentation fee from Dave Salvatore at Kerbeck's. I also had to pay to truck it from NJ-CA. This car is a lot harder to buy at MSRP than the 997TT for some reason. I got tired of dialing on the phone and getting the same song and dance, $5K over, $10K over, $20K over, nearly everywhere. Long order lists and waiting lists all over the country. Even with the $2K to transport it to CA, it is a wonderful "deal", at least according to all of the Corvette afficionados. Chevy dealers are a different breed from the P-Car dealers - completely different culture.

Dave ran a 2 car special on Wednesday, a silver and red at MSRP plus $139 doc. fee. The silver went instantly and I locked in the Red one later in the day, I was surprised it was still available a couple hours after he made the announcement.

Here's the data from the actual sticker:

Window Sticker Division of General Motors Corporation
CORVETTE Z06 2 DOOR

Dog! I knew you were softening up! Twice in about two days I heard, "the Z-06 is a fast car" out of you.

If I hadn't just bought the prettiest car ever made (360 Spyder) I might have beat you to it.

Great score. Perfect for Ventura.

So when does the TT go on the block?

You need a convertable in that part of the country.

TT on the block? Heck, I just barely have driven it around the block!

As far as convertibles go, I just don't care much for them, except on the Ferrari maybe. Got the motorcycle when I need to catch some wind...

The TT is a keeper.

dog-you really made a wonderful deal. you are probably one of the few people in the country to pay list for a z06. dollar for dollar, it is obviously the best deal in the world. you are a lucky man, to have both machines.

Thank you. I was caught off guard by Kerbeck's offer. I really didn't plan on getting the car now. I was simply hoping to order one, get it 4-6 months and find a dealer who would get me the car at MSRP if I was willing to wait it out.

You must have a good insight on how difficult it really is to locate a live Z06 car at MSRP at this moment (please understand that a month from now they could be discounting them for all I know).

It's not that there aren't plenty around the country right now. Over 200 units are sitting on the Chevy dealers lots right now. Of the 200, many are presold, coming in and presold, or the dealer is holding out for the premium of $5-$20K (as much as 30K at some stores). Alot of these Chevy stores are small and receive only a few Corvettes, let alone Z06's. So they hold out for a homerun and they lay in wait for the fish to walk in and pay the number. Once again, I think MSRP is more than enough to pay for any car, but I don't think they care about what I think. It seems that the Chevy dealers are in love with this part of their inventory and are willing to toss the dice and pay the flooring for awhile and hope for the big hit or big fish strolls onto the showroom floor.

If you didn't know about this site, check out Jeff Hardy's Corvette Locator:

This guy knows where all the bodies are buried...

Anyway, I know this is way off the 997TT topic, so I apologize if I am carrying the thread too far.
