Default Small gas tank...

Anyone else perplexed by the small gas tank they put in the TT?

I know the car is supposed to get pretty good gas mileage but all these trips to the pump.. Come on...

Couldn't agree more. 20 gallons would be nice. I'll take a taller first gear, while we're at it. AS

I think it's 17 gallons.

I agree, it don't take too long for this beast to get thirsty and take a pit stop at my Chevron down the street (with Techron, of course).

17 gallons is better than a 996tt, and i think the same as a 997c4s. not so bad, right?

When does the low fuel light come on? On the M5, it was pretty bad <200 miles.

996TT fuel tank capacity is ~ 16.6 US gallons.
The low fuel warning light (and OBC message) will come on if there is less than ~3 gallons remaining or the range of remaining fuel calculation/display falls below ~ 30 miles.
The capacity of the tank is somewhat compromised by the presence of the AWD in the TT and 4S, compared to the C2.
On previous Porsches, a (Euro) extended capacity fuel tank was available as an option; however I do not believe these were carried forward to the 'wet' Porsches.
A larger fuel tank was never a requirement/consideration during the design of either.

Is the tank too small or your right foot too heavy?

Tank is too small. I average about 18 mpg, and I'm stopping all too often.
My E55 has about a 21 gal capacity, averages about 22, and seems about right in terms of range. AS

Don't you just love that E55? Incredible mileage and range for this beast of a car. I just put on a set Pirelli PZero Rosso's and it rides very nice. I got 20K out of the OEM Continentals, boy those things were noisy.

Also, just did the 20K mi service at the dealer. There were three recalls they did on mine, voltage reg, secondary air pump and some brake cable rerouting thing. Car runs great now...

i also test drove the e55. i certainly thought the car was a great sedan, but you would need a situation like you have. as long as you have a sports car, the e55 is fine. but the steering is way to vague to satisfy your performance/sports car urges.

True. The E55 is nothing more than a luxury precision dragster.
