You need the boot because the ring is what holds shifter boot wether it’s Alcântara or a leather one, like this in link below:

you can’t buy the ring separate from Porsche…

one last question (I hope) - I remove the ring from the 997 manual and insert in the 992 boot? Or I remove the ring from the 992 boot and install the 992 over the 997?

Just found this post, you sir have the ***** I am tucking between my legs
What did you do for the headliner?
I would like to do the same conversion as I have the most perfect donor car, a 997.2 Turbo Manual with PCCB. Do you know if I can buy the BBS wheels in GT2 sizing? If so, do you mind sharing what the wheels cost you?
Thanks so much!

Do let us know re new CF roof. A friend of mine did this and he gets vibration when driving. Very interested if your new CF roof fixes the issue. I think the GT2 RS had a steel roof not sure?

I had no vibration with the old carbon roof at all…. I am just replacing it because the is an issue with the resin mixture.. My new one is made 100% times better and is a dry carbon piece.

You can’t use the 992 boot, it’s a difference shape. You still need a 997 boot whether leather or Alcântara. So you will need the 997 ring, 997 boot and the 992 pdk shifter. I used hot glue to install my alcantara boot to the ring. The 992 PDK shifter needs to be removed from the 992 boot so you can use the 992 pdk shifter and also there is a little white ring that you will also need from the 992 shifter assembly to hold the 997 boot (in essence the white ring will hold the 997 boot round at the top, held to the 992 shifter.

I’m gearing up to do the shift **** as well, but on a Sea Blue interior - I’ll have to have my leather guy swap the leather on the GT ****. I’ll try and figure out something for the button mislabel while I’m at it. I love the idea of a machined metal insert to complement with the existing silver accents in the car… and all of the sudden this has gotten very expensive.

As it is semi-related to this project (which is beyond amazing btw!) I'm looking for help to find a good set of 'OEM near equivalent' side inlet airducts for the rear quarter panels for my GT2. I want to do the GT2 RS style of ducts, but the OEM price is beyond my current budget. I've seen a few like this, but was hoping for other recommendations if they exist.

Thanks to all, and HUGE PROPS to the OP for the amazing GT2 RS clone he's building here. I'm seriously impressed.
