Default Europipe Installed - First impressions

I have recently picked up my new to me 997 TT - after having a spanner check and a complete fluid flush to bring all of the books up to date time wise (only has 43,000 Klms.)

I've gone through a number of exhausts over the years on all sorts of P-Cars (and others) I went through every type on my 993 TT (Fabspeed (Don't ask) Cargraphic, Vertex, a custom system and then finally settled on custom by-passes for the track and modified Fisters for the street.

I did a lot of reading - regarding exhausts and 997 TT's - and went out on a limb and ordered EP1. I listened to a mates EP on a 997.2 and fell in love with the turbo whistle and the overall note. I then read about the EP2 and was worried it wouldn't be aggressive enough - however spoke to Stef (via my shop) and we discussed my taste and the difference between Ep1 and Ep2. This car is less of a track car and i def didn't want any drone. Stef advised and promised it would be no issue.

The EP1 is a gem! The welds were exquisite and even the packaging was awesome. I had to wait a few weeks for Stef to make it - and then get it shipped here but OMG - so worth the wait (and the $$$)

I was worried it wouldn't be loud enough - these things sound like a dyson with the stock exhaust - but when i first heard it on cold start i was worried it would be too loud!

No fear - it is as Stef promised - perfect ! ZERO drone - and a perfect low rpm whistle and the perfect note.

Ive only driven it home (the long way.. ) but can say it exceeds my expectations!

If you're on the fence - take the plunge - well worth it! Now I just need to wait for my tips to arrive from Speedtech and I'll be set!

Simon.

Mine is as you describe, especially cold start. And I live in FL. Have 60K+ miles on mine.

Interested in anybody's impression of reduction in turbo lag. Normal and Sport modes. I like it.

The best after market exhaust for a 996, 997 turbo and 991 turbo by a country mile in terms of quality, fit, finish, service from Europipe and sound

I've bought 100 cel EP2 and 50 cel EP2 for both 997 and 991 respectively and over the moon. Friends with other brands have been through a few other brands and still not happy hence bit bullet and finally bought EP too. Should have come with this exhaust from factory.

Concur with all of the above on my 997.2 TT. No CEL ever in 44K miles. Also, the EP has the stealthy look of an OEM exhaust and has gotten me through the visual smog license renewal in CA.

I can concur. I bought one on the used market about a month ago. Had it installed with Champion Intercoolers. Really woke up my car and the sound is intoxicating.

Sadly, I don't have anything to compare it too, but fortunately my car came with a Europipe. It sounds perfect and I can play the stereo and have a conversation or talk on the phone without issue.

Overall the car is less noisy than my recollection of my C4S cab with the top down, which AFAIK was an OEM exhaust. I prefer to hear the turbos spool and whine. Sweet sound.

I love mine, but I have to disagree with any appreciable reduction in "turbo lag." I think that's mythful and wishful thinking.

Wow! I've been looking for a used one for months! Lucky you for finding one. I'll be ordering mine from Stef this summer.

At first I thought you were going to say it sounds like a dump truck, because in all videos that’s what it sounds like to me. Granted the turbo spool is intoxicating.

Would love to hear one in person since it has so many great reviews yet online videos make me cringe.

I agree, most of the videos don't sound that great. I have heard one in person and it sounds better, but it's certainly no GT3. But I think a big improvement to the OEM Dyson sound.

Try this vid, my old car with an EP2, shot in 2010 but still decent representation..... Sounded louder and deeper in person ...

This forum is chock full of EP fans - jmho but is likely the favorite amongst us 997 TT brethren.

No smoke and mirrors here guys, best exhaust for this car. No gimmickry and excellent quality. Stef and his craftsmanship are unmatched. Second best mod I have ever done! But I have to thank a good friend for allowing me to listen and look at the exhaust. My “other” known brand was quickly removed and sold for scrap. I could not in good conscience sell it to someone on here. What would I say? Dumped it at a scrap yard and got $75.
