What is max boost level for an OEM 997.1 TT with and w/o SC?

For cars with SC, max boost is 1 bar, and 1.2 bar in overboost for up to 10 seconds (SC engaged and throttle mashed to floor). Porsche says measurements taken under full load, at sea level, at 20 deg C.

Not sure about cars w/o SC, but I would think probably 1bar.
( which might explain why SC was almost always optioned on .1 turbos)

We won't see 1.2 bars sustained just a peak at 4300 RPM's.. If your IC temps are over 55C and pulling -9 knock retard, you would be hard pressed to see 1 bar... Sad but true.

I am having some pretty major (external) engine modifications done and just got off a teleconference with my Tuner and with my Builder/Installer (AutoQuest Motorsports in Ft. Myers, Fl.). My Tuner (Sam at ByDesign Automotive Group) said his target is 22 - 23 psi ~ 1.5 - 1.58 Bar...on E85 we have settled on a pretty conservative tune of ~700 WHP.

Just watch your torque numbers on stock rods

Sam is good with watching torque on a stock motor. As I am sure most tuners are. I have similar mods to what usrodeo4 will have. Sam has even made me data log at cooler and cooler temperatures recently. To make sure the cold air wasn't putting those rods at risk.

I would love to feel what a built motor would feel like without limiting the torque. You are a lucky man. haha

The risk of pinching your number 2 or 5 rod bearing and more likely than not cracking/bending stock rods AT a genuine 700 Wheel HP is high (800 crank HP). If you get wheel spin and it hooks up>>a rod will exit the engine case. Look thru previous forum threads..

Thanks for the heads up. I'm new to this platform and still learning.

A while back I did a search for bearing failure and oil issue type stuff. I didn't see much on here or 6speed. But then again, there wasn't much about rod failures either. I try to do more digging.

Yes...I hear that...my tuner says he will limit the torque to protect the engine. That's why we settled on a "conservative" 700WHP tune. Looks like we have a similar build but my engine internals are stock, my parts list: HRE P101's, Michelin Cup 2 rubber, H&R springs, Factory Aerokit front spoiler/lip, Fabspeed CF Competition are intake, IPD Y Pipe, IPD 82mm Plenum, GT3 82mm TB (utilizing Trident Marine clamps to seal), AP Turbo inlet ducts, ByDesign 4.5 inch intercoolers, Tial 68mm VTG Turbos, Kline headers, Kline Inconel catless exhaust, ID Bosch 1342cc Injectors, Cobb Autosport 93 tune, e85 tune and "similar to OEM tune", aka let a friend borrow your car tune. Tune is by Sam at ByDesign Automotive Group. My TT is currently under the knife...I get her back in late Oct....can't wait!
