Fastest Car ever owned
It occurred to me today while taking a spirited drive on a country road, passing cars with the turbos kicking in, that this is by far the fastest car I've ever owned, and ever driven. How about other 997.1 owners?

Mine is currently stock, but I have owned a modified Mitsubishi Evo 9, and F80 M3 (on e85). Both would blow the doors of a stock 997 Turbo in a straight line. Still enjoy this car far more than either of those.

Car yes...vehicle, No...I owned a highly modified BMW 2012 S1000RR...her wet weight was about 380 lbs (and I weigh 145 lbs soaking wet) and the engine has dyno'd at 232 H.P. I'll let you do the math. p.s. I raced a 991 TT S out of a stop light once. He was sitting there at the red light and I pulled up...we had a long open space in front of us...approx. 1/4 easily. I knew the TT was a beast so thought he may want to go. I gave him a blip of my throttle to see and he didn't respond so I figured no, but when the light turned green he pulled away PDQ so I went off quick enough to not be left sitting there with egg on my face. I wasn't on the gas in anger but I quickly passed him and saw him in my mirror and figured he wasn't going to go so I let off the throttle and settled in when I heard a huge wooosh and he was right beside me, obviously at full throttle, so it was light the fuse time, my front wheel clawed at the sky and I got down to business, in 4th gear I saw a small black dot in my mirror. It was not close.

That bike would be insane!!
997 is by far the fastest car I've owned. Drove a 650s recently and that made the Porsche seem pedestrian, but I don't have capital to throw at a McLaren or a GT2RS so the 911 will do

I have a sharkwerks stage 2 setup with about 600hp. Not the fastest car I’ve ever driven but definetly the fastest I’ve ever owned and more than fast enough for me. It’s a rocket.

Fastest = highest mph
Quickest = quickest acceleration (1/8, 1/4. & 1/2 mile)
The 911 Turbo probably has the potential to be the fastest car I have owned. As it could/should do 200 mph. Especially now since it makes over 700 whp.
The quickest car I have owned was my 1986 Mercury Capri that was garage built by my buddies and I. It was a street car with power steering, stereo, a/c, overdrive trans, and all that stuff. But it had a 88mm turbo and made about 1,100 crank hp. Through a converter that was too loose it went 9.3 @ 147 blowing through the converter. It would have been an easy 8 second streetcar on the 17" street wheel/tire combo had I changed the converter. This was back in 2009. Now 8 second street cars are not that uncommon. lol

Interesting project. Never seen a Mercury Capri built up like that.

My car is ridiculously fast, faster than any car I've owned or driven, I think. The thing is, unlike most of you, I don't need this speed, I don't need more speed, I drive it very modestly, I'm not a total speed demon. I drive fast for very short period of time when friends are in the car, when they ask. I just love the way it looks, I like the S on the rear badge, I love the inside, I love the stares I get, I love the comfort, I love the fact that I can drive it all day for so many hours and never get tired or have my back hurt. It has it all... and super fast speed. My buddy rode in it the night for about 3 hours and he drives a super fast Maserati. He said "Steve, your car is a rocket ship". He's owned Ferraris, Porsches, Mercedes SL's and other very nice cars. He said my car is just blow away great.
I agree. For the money and ease to fix, it cannot be beat.

Perhaps the fastest but not the most fun and intimidating. That distinction still belongs to my former 2008 MB CLK63 AMG Black Series.

This was back when quick cars had 4" cowl hoods, loud exhaust, and looked more race car than street car. We wanted to build a sleeper, which is pretty also common now. Even then most sound like Pro Stock cars when they start them.
Our goal was to stuff a mid-frame t6 88mm turbo, 5" downpipe, split into a 3.5" full aluminum exhaust out the back, design and make aluminum mufflers to keep it quiet, use an air to water intercooler as to not have an air to air intercooler giving away the sleeper status, keep the a/c, power steering, full interior, cage that hugged the chassis, overdrive trans, and keep it all under a flat hood. It was a large undertaking as we had to lower the engine as much as possible, make custom brackets to move all the accessories down to make room for the 5" down pipe, and have a 5" to dual 3.5" transition that we had to use black magic to fit past the motor, engine cradle, and steering shaft. We did things people said couldn't be done. The car was quieter than my 2011 Mustang GT with stock exhaust. The car was and did everything we set out to do. It was a blast to build the car and amazed people everywhere we went. I wish I knew more about social media at the time as it really could have taken off.
Sadly I sold the car and two owners later was a younger guy took it out street racing a day after he bought the car. They didn't test the road they were racing on and there was a big dip at the end. He hit the dip, lost control and went sideways into a couple of light poles.
That being said, if I could have that car back I would not even consider trading it for my 911. The 911 is on another level of street car. It doesn't make the power the Capri did, but with 700+whp the car is a rocket and just a joy to drive anywhere.

From a roll, yes. The 60-130 times of my car on E85 are approaching a 140 mph trap speed in a drag race. From a stop, no. My 991.2TTS went a 10.2 @ 137 with a flash and exhaust.

Not to nit pick, but poll says "driven", title of thread says "owned".
Driven: Lamborghini Gallardo I think it was the fastest car I've driven (I think it has more hp than the 997TT, right?) - that car was a terrible disappointment, drove it at NJMP at one of those wait for 45 minutes to get to do 2 laps on the track with a really nervous instructor.
Owned: yes.
Best car I have ever owned, or driven.

I think this is the fastest group ive owned
12 turbo S
16 Bmw F10 M5 Competition package
15 Ferrari Speciale
You may think the M5 would not be in the list but below 100 mph, its quicker than most cars out there, even super cars, but above 100 mph, thats where it will blow away anything.
