Default 2012 valuations

I am considering trading or selling my 2012 Porsche Turbo 997.2.....On KBB the trade value for my car is between 88-97k....is that realistic?..
My car has 12,000 original miles with Europipe exhaust, Ceramic Pro, window tint.....perfect condition. White with black full leather interior, PDK, Bose, heated and cooled front seats, Sirius XM with lifetime service, Bi-Xenon PDLS lights, Sport Chrono, Dynamic engine mounts, Sport Design steering wheel, all paperwork, original window sticker. Always garaged and covered.....never driven on a track....maintenance has been done properly.....
Any suggestions would be appreciated .....

I will list it at $90k. Take off the europipe as it wont add to your selling price.

Then you will get $93 for it. Not a bad pay day.

I would start above 100K around 105K and see where it goes. You have a low mileage last year 997.2. Don’t sell it short. Let us know what you get.

2013 was the last year for the 997.2. I would also be in the $95-99K range. If it was a manual you could ask a lot more.

The KBB value is unrealistic. I've seen 997.2 TTS having a hard time selling at mid 90s, and that's a 'S'. Granted your car has low mileage so you may be able to argue for more money but I'll say dealers will offer it as a trade in the mid 70s. Private sale may get you mid 80s. Only way to find out is take it to a dealer and see what they say. Yea, I know everybody thinks their car is special and hope to get a nice number but truth is these are normal everyday production cars that depreciate like others unless you have a lot of time and patience. Or some off the wall color, options, etc. Good luck and let us know what you find out.

Forgot to ask if you car has a warranty. Most of these cars are out or soon coming off of warranty so they will take another hit in price. Personally I would not buy one without one. A piece of mind goes a long way.

Well I must have overpaid. My 2012 TTS was going for $106K and I ended up paying $101K and another buyer was hot on my trail to buy it. Only thing I had on him was I was local and he wasn’t. It’s nicely optioned and had 15:8K miles on it. I was able to easily add a 5 year 60K Platinum extended warranty from Fidelity through Michael at Mossy motors for $3600. No regrets.

I totally think 100K+ for your car is not only possible but totally FAIR!!

I hope you don't have to take low 90's or high 80's for it. That means I over paid as well.

I'm hoping these will stabilize and someday increase a bit in value.

You guys will love this... was getting my oil changed at the dealer last week. I’m always thinking about my next 911 so I asked for a number on mine. The stats: 2011 turbo coupe, white/black pdk, 38k miles... bought CPO at this dealer and up to date on service including belt, plugs, etc. tires new this year as well.. and I should mention they are advertising a black 2012 TTS for $105k.

My car is a 9/10 inside and outside. For reference KBB says $74k for trade in.

I was offered $63k. Guess I’m keeping it lol.

Well as my old sales boss used to say, "Profit isn't a Dirty word".

But, having said that. I'd never trade in a car like this anyway unless I was desperate. Even then, I'd always try for a private sale first.

I'm sure if you sold it, you could get low / mid 80's... I'd hope!

Default 997.2 Turbo

I have been offered 80k from the dealer....I removed the Europipe exhaust and put the stock exhaust back on....I will sell the Europipe...hopefully realize $3500-4000 for it...when I figure the tax savings on my GT3 Touring (due to arrive in December) as a trade in that adds up to $5000..,,
So I will net appx $88-89k....I thought that was a fair deal...so I am going to trade it in...
I thought about selling it outright but I would have to sell it for $93-94k to get to the same numbers....

Anyone looking for a Europipe exhaust with 10k miles....send them my way..,

Thanks for all the input...

Yeah, if I decided to move on it I’d advertise at $82k - $84k and let it go for $79k at worst. Problem is, I’d have to spend another $40 - $50k to get a significantly better ride!

Exactly!! So keep it for sure.

I'd love to have a 991 TTS but not for the difference it'd take to buy one.

Yep that pretty much confirms what I'm seeing on the 997TT/S. The dealer takes your trade as a convenience for you to off load the car instantly but you pay for it in the low ball offer. You could try to sell it yourself and get a little more money but cars like these are looking for specialized buyers. That can take some time and patience if you have it. Also, you have to arrange test drives, non-serious buyers/tire kickers, etc. Finally, not to take anything away from the 997.1 folks but I just can't see myself paying 997.2TTS prices for 10-12 year old cars. 911's have evolved over the years and every model is built on the previous model, granted every now and then there is an exception. You can debate all day about DFI vs. Mezger, but in the end DFI is newer and here to stay.
