As a 997.1TT owner, I can tell you this,
The 997.1TT is the last manual Porsche turbo. It is smaller compared to 991 and would be consdiered more of a "drivers" car. Values are doing well are result.
I daily drive my 997.1TT and it makes for enjoyable commutes. (i have it on wheel spacers and lowering springs with europipe exhaust. It looks stock but just right).
I have considered upgrading to a 991TT at some point because it is a little more refined, and has daily friendly PDK. They have come down in price quite a bit which makes them attractive buys.
Realistically, I am only interested in a 991TT when the price becomes rock bottom and the ulitmate supercar bargin. Until then im not dreaming of them.
The older the 997 gets, the more classic it becomes. The older the 991 gets, nobody cares. It is a 4 wheel steer luxo boat that has been further improved with the 991.2 and soon 992.
The 997TT is a keeper. The 991TT is not.
You have to ask yourself if you want the lastest great turbo car in your driveway or a classic. You also have to decide if you want a PDK car over your manual.
If you keep your 997TT, i vote not to put a big stereo in it. Keep it on stock wheels. Give it a tune and exhaust. A clean car that is over 10 years old looks better stock then altered.

Which begs the question, why not a 997.2TTS? PDK with the looks of the 997.1.
I know the value / collectability might not be there as much as the manual but for what they can be bought for now, it's an amazing value.
I for one don't miss my 6MT when driving my PDk. I did 300 miles in the mountains yesterday and i'm simply in Love with this thing.

The 997.2TTS is an amazing machine. It is basically the same powertrain as the 991.1TT but in a small package.
I would strongly recommend a 997.2TTS for those looking for value. You can have all the 991.TT power for less money in the 997.2TTS. A tidy package.
Although, the manual mezger will be the car of choice in time when dealing with 997 turbo market. Even the 997.2TT manual will have good legs.
Anything PDK will be less. (Dont get me wrong, i love PDK in my daily driver. Just not my weekend collectable 15-20 years from now.)

I was you.
It sounds as though you are going through my same steps of reasoning a year ago. I too have a 2007 997 Turbo with a 6-speed manual. I too bought a low mileage leader and have had it for sometime. Unlike you, however, I did actually purchase a 2014 991 Turbo S, with the intention of selling the 997. Well, after 6 weeks of driving the 991, I sold it and decided to keep the 997. When it came down to it, I use my Porsches as toy cars, as opposed to daily drivers, and I found my 997 to be more of a toy - more engaging to drive, with the manual transmission, more visceral, smaller, and more fun. I found the 991 to be kind of like a fast Camry. And my 997 is faster! (Its modded with just the types of mods you sound like you are contemplating for your car.) Cheers and I think you made a good choice to keep your 997.

Wow, I'm feeling really good about my decision, I doubt I will have any regrets especially after hearing of some of your experiences! Love the look of your 997TT hkiang!
I mailed a check to cover the cost of all the parts to Shark Werks today, and I'm on their calendar to begin the mods in mid-October, so I am on the way to making this happen, no turning back now.
And after seeing the silver rims on hkiang's 997TT I think I will go with that color. My car is Meteor Gray Metallic, so I think silver will go well with that color. I'm getting the HRE P43SC wheels, and I was thinking about getting them in a Brushed Titanium color, but I didn't feel it was worth an additional $1,400 over the standard color price (black or silver).

hkiang, I am curious what your impressions are on the differences in turbo lag/responsiveness between your 997.1TT and your now former 991TTS. Was it very pronounced or not very noticeable?
