I perfectly understand your experience. Ive owned a 997.2 C4S and now have a 997 4 GTS. Even with the added 20 hp, my 997 turbo still is a better car. I love my GTS and it has earned a lot of praise, but my turbo stays.

You have quite the motorpool. Looks like the best of all worlds!

Its a sickness. But they have different characteristics even if all of them are wide bodied 997. Since you have a cab, maybe get a coupe TT for a hot day.

Default 997 Turbo - Air Intake Housing Removal

Hi,

i'm new to these forums. I'm just using the latest conversations on 997TT to initiate a new inquiry. I've been going crazy to figure out how to remove the entire air intake housing on my 997TT. I've search everywhere but all I find its 996TT videos or pics of the housing removal but the 997TT seems very different. I'm a DIY car guy myself and have been looking to remove this housing to take out a coolant house that is leaking and replace it.

Any help with pics or video of any similar procedures where they remove the complete air intake housing?

Thanks guys!

A beautiful meteor/tan 07 6spd coupe with PCCBs, adaptives and 28k miles just sold on 6speed in less than a week for $85k. That would have been a stretch a couple years ago IIRC.

Agree, prices creeping up for good cars. Low mi, high option, 6mt minimal mods especially. Look at the 996tt, you can’t get a low mi unmolested x50 car for less than 60k.

i came from a 996 to my 997TT. Prices are up for all 996-997 water cooled cars that are clean and well maintained. I sold my 996 for a good price and very quickly. It had everything done, and done right and was extremely clean with 82,000 miles on it.

I originally was going to look for a 996TT but the prices for good clean cars has really increased. I was really lucky, I got my 997TT for a steal. I had to move on it very quickly and drive 7 hours to go get it but I pulled it off. Planning on keeping mine 100% stock and the miles on it reasonable. Will enjoy it on nice days and watch it appreciate.

This thread makes me want to go and take mine out for a drive instead of treating it like a garage art. Bone stock w/ 6K miles.

Too many cars in the house hold and way too many idiots and pot holes on Seattle roads!

Something tells me that one isn't going to crack 10k miles by 2040...

Mileage seems to affect the hype on these quite a bit, there's a nicely optioned, well maintained 07 with some decent mods and 63k miles that's been listed for a year in the classifieds.

I sold mine for about $8 ~ $12K below todays market only 2 years ago. No question 997 Turbos are going up in value and will continue until the market flattens out in a few years like 993's did a while back.

Drive it! No impact on the value, you should enjoy, it's a fantastic car for sure.

Great discussion. I'm betting on mine to hold its value or better, just go up. Within the Porsche generations I strongly believe the Mezger engine with manual transmission on 997TT was a huge turning point not as big as the air cooled vs water cooled but still a big change. The DFI has yet to gain the racing reputation that the Mezger currently hold. Even as time passes, Mezger already earned the "hall of fame" in automotive racing.

Found this thread after just purchasing my ‘07 997.1 Turbo. I paid $82k. Looking at prices nationwide and reading online I don’t feel bad about it.... as long as she is reasonably healthy. I had a PPI done at the main Porsche dealership around here but I have to be honest that it didn’t feel like they inspected thoroughly or even appropriately for what is expected. I’ll be taking it to an Indy shop on Tuesday for a deep inspection. It has a decent list of aftermarket “upgrades” but from the factory it is manual with sports chrono, PCCBs, lots of carbon fiber, unique color scheme, etc. I’ve added some miles over the past 2 weeks but purchased at ~35k.
