New owner intro
So like many before me on this board, I’ve been a long time lurker and finally pulled the trigger on a 997.1 Turbo (2007). Initially I was searching for a 996tt for a little over two years. Came close a few times but never found the one for me. Prices just kept creeping up so I figured I’d add a couple bucks to the budget and look for a 997tt. I happen to be browsing a local dealer’s inventory online and came across this 997tt. It was a 1 owner clean Carfax car with nice options. Original owner purchased and maintained the car from the same dealer I purchased from, so I asked for and was provided with the complete maintenance history. It ticked all the right boxes for me, especially as a first-time Porsche owner. PPI & DME report came back clean too. It had a little over 48k miles on it. Manual, GT Silver w/ natural gray full leather package having silver deviated stitch & silver belts. Also has sport chrono, and rear axle/diff lock. I picked it up in Oct of last year and only drove the car 5 times…I am so looking forward to spring.
I can’t begin to explain how grateful I am for Kevin over at Ultimate Motorwerks. I reached out to him because he seemed pretty helpful on this board – well that was an understatement. He took hours of him time to email & talk to me, explaining all the intricacies of these cars, rates of appreciation, and just what to look out for in a purchase. As a first time porsche owner, that was invaluable to me. Incredible knowledge & incredible guy! I also browse this site daily – time permitting – to get a better understanding of the car’s mechanicals, nuances, and of course prospective mods. I do want to keep it mostly stock but I think a Europipe Stage 1 would be a nice addition…hopefully in a few months. My only “mod” so far was to replace the amber side markers with a clear lens / amber bulb unit. Looks cleaner on a silver car - IMO.
Anyway, just wanted to introduce myself. I look forward to learning as much as I can and contributing whenever possible to the board.
Cheers!
Steve

Congrats and welcome. I too am a new 997 Turbo owner. As for waiting for spring, I highly recommend getting a set of rims and snow tires. I purchased a set of aftermarket rims and snow tires for $1500, and now I'm able to drive the car through the cold Northeast weather.

Three Wheelin'
Excellent find. 1 owner, low miles, the right color for all Porsches (IMHO!!!) and well maintained. I hope you have many years of driving one of the best vehicles ever made.

Thanks all!
As for driving in winter weather - believe it or not this car doesn't have a bit of rust on it. I don't think it's been driven on these NJ salty roads, and I'll do the same. Of course after a good soaking rain and roads are cleared off I'll take it out. I daily drive an F-150 so that serves as my winter beast!

Steve, Congrats and welcome to the club! Sounds like a nicely optioned car, and it’s hard to beat GT Silver. I also joined the 997 TT club in October (2009 MT, Arctic Silver/Black)... just in time to put it away for winter. Spring will be here before we know it!

Thanks everyone! I've had it out a few times - longest ride was out to Long Island but to be honest I thought my knee was going to fall off on the Cross Bronx from traffic....It's been 25 years since I've driven a manual so I have to build up tolerance...and yes save for a clutch!
@o7silverturbo I'm in Denville. Absolutely I'd be up for a ride. A guy from work with a dialed up M3 told me about Hawks Nest up in NY State on the NJ/PA border. Supposedly they film BMW commercials there and is a blast to drive!
@TheDeckMan - Kevin is an encyclopedia on these cars, but on top of that his willingness to share this info with a stranger speaks volumes of the guy. Hopefully one day I'll get to meet him.
