Lovely car!! I would suggest EP (exhaust) and COBB tune, perfect combo! Were you deliberate in parking two ICE cars in front of Tesla EV charging stations...LOL. Was that your subtle middle finger salute to the plug-in hybrid direction of future 911s and the ever present threat of autonomous vehicles...Hahahaha!

AT SATCO - great purchase! Am a new Rennlist member and searching for my first Pcar. I had meant to comment on your other thread on this car but saw this post today and figured here was more appropriate - I actually flew up to RSM to take a look at this car in person a few weeks ago, it's absolutely stunning and a "unicorn" for sure! I ended up wanting to go the coupe route, but otherwise would have jumped on this at the time. Congrats and love the meteor gray - the sport shifter in this car was fantastic, for sure! Sam was fantastic and I can't agree more with others that chimed in wrt his quality.
agreed Sam was great, and the car was everything he promised.

Congrats on the pickup. Awesome car, and awesome garage in general.

So i was reading up on my new car yesterday and talking to my buddy whos owned a few 997 Turbos over the years about a tune. And explained to him how the car was driving and he guessed it already has a tune. He told me to take a drive and keep the boost indicator up in the center readout under the tach. And he told me if th eboost goes over 12psi i have a tune. Well.................i was consisitently hitting 14-16 psi on every pull. So the car has a tune!!!! and i just saved 2 grand. HAHA.
Now i have a question.................I bought this exhaust.........................

My local tuner is still saying i need his tune to make sure the CEL light wont go on because i wont be running cats. I think since the car already has a tune i should be safe. I'd much rather save that money and put it towards something else. Can any of you shed some light on this issue?
Thanks

Yes, the stock ECU tune in sport mode in overboost (up arrow) can get up to ~17psi

Sport Chrono (Factory)
1 bar = 14.5 psi
1.2 bar = 17.4 psi (sport)
take Cobb as example:
stage-1
16 and 18 psi (sport)
Cobb stage-2
17 and 20 psi (sport)
it all has tolerance or some degree of fluctuation, it is hard to see it from the factory center gauge.

I had a similar question on my 997.2 Turbo S.
From page 133 of my owners manual it says:
"The engine boost pressure is regulated by the engine control unit. The maximum boost pressure is approx. 14 psi (1 bar), and approx. 17 psi (1.2 bar) in the 911 Turbo S. It is, however, greatly dependent on the ambient air pressure and the fuel grade"
If you can find a place to run up to maybe 80 or 90 and put your foot in it I would imagine you will see 17-18. It seems to take a big load to get the boost up near max on my car. 1st and 2nd gear are processed so quickly I dont know if the boost gage can keep up accurately.
Congratulations BTW. beautiful car.
