Default Standalone ECU Solutions

What is your favorite standalone and why? Who is your standalone ecu tuner and what solutions are they familiar with? Why did you pick them?

I'm currently maxed out on a stock motor, 93 octane and custom Cobb tune. I'm considering going to the next level but would like to stay on pump gas. How far can I go with 93, built motor and stand alone eco solution? What would standalone ecu with a very competent tuner get me beyond one of the proprietary tuner solutions (other than a lighter wallet)? Am I nuts for considering standalone ecu for a pump gas build?

I don't have any specific power goals but I would like to be able to safely go beyond 700whp/wtq if and when I want to.

i don't think you need to get into a standalone for that power level. There's lots of mechanical stuff I would do before getting into that realm; ported heads, different valvetrain, hotter cams, more displacement.

To be honest you don't even need a standalone for the above. You can make 1500whp with the stock ECU, maybe even more. The ECU is not the limiting factor.

What turbochargers are you running?

What boost levels (sustained)are you running?

I think that you will be pushing the octane vs boost limits with 93 octane. Go to Race gas or E85..

Have you tuned your hardware for a race gas file on VP109?

Rods become the limiting factor over 700/750HP (depending on the ramp rate of your turbochargers)

I don't know much about this, but I do know a buddy of mine here locally has a fully built motor with a syvecs ECU.. no strange lights, warrnings on the dash, etc.

I do know his car has various settings to deliver anywhere from 711 to over 1100 hp (maybe even more..). A ride in that car gave me a new found appreciation for the word fast..

I don't know what turbos I have - BL wouldn't share the specs (can you believe that?) and I haven't pulled one apart to find out. They are very efficient though.

I can make more sustained boost than Cobb AP can register - meaning 23 +. I keep it around 22-23. Is this a limiting factor of the Cobb Tune or the stock hardware or both?

I don't currently have a race gas tune loaded. Would need to work with a different remote Cobb tuner to get this.

I am already at the limit on stock rods.

I think Syvecs is the 997TT favorite.

You can make big hp without a stand alone ecu.
