why?
it only becomes evident after one drives 4.0

I won't attrmpt to represent the consensus view of "most," rather I'll simply cast my vote. 2RS if I had to chose one. And I did, reflecting my personal preference; far, far from an objective truth

Own 4.0 and have some seat time in 2rs! I prefer 4.0! Both are great.
Will probably search the turbo itch with the 991gt2rs. Jus have a feeling it will be brilliant hooked up to that PDK.

Search for an old thread that puts CGT, 997 2rs and 997 4.0 against each other for comments. I think Secret started it.
It's total personal preference. I've owned both. If u r turbo guy, prob 993 tts or 997 2rs are the ultimate. If you are NA, 964rs and 997 4.0. A turbo guy isn't going to pick 4.0 and NA guy not going to pick 2rs. And then you have AC vs WP. I just don't think it's a real comparison, because it's decided by someone's turbo/NA power delivery bias right out of the gate. Better vote would be 991 R vs 997 4.0 imo.
All that said, I pick 4.0. I've owned both and kept 4.0. But EVERY car in my collection that I've kept has been NA. I think 2rs is every bit as impressive of a car as 4.0, but it's turbo and I'm not turbo guy.
As a side note, when I bought the 2rs, I decided it was THE turbo to own if I was going to have one in my collection. So, as an NA guy, it's my fav turbo car. If they hadn't appreciated so insanely after I bough it, I'd still have it. These things have all gotten so expensive, gotta REALLY want to keep them to hold them.

I voted for the 4.0 as that is what I think will do better in the long run.
But I am a turbo guy and own the 7GT2RS and a couple of other 6/7GT2s. I enjoy the looks, the torque, but hate the exhaust note.
I do prefer my NA's to be V8 or V12. However, I often think that I made a mistake and should have bought a GT3RS...some day.

Given how the world seems to be rushing in the direction of turbos, I think the NA cars will prove to be the better long-term financial bets as they're more different/special. But if you're in the market for either, I reckon you'll do just fine with either. Both are outrageously fast. Personally I prefer the redline rush you get from an NA race engine to that elastic hyperdrive sensation from turbos.

Both are epic, rare cars and will likely continue to track similarly in resale for years to come. One will make you grin from ear to ear while filling your ears with sounds of joy. The other will make you grin from ear to ear while pushing your eyeballs back in their sockets. Comes down to preference :-)
