Roll bar?
Is there a roll bar that is easily installed / removed, like the DAS for 993?
Considering switching to a gt3 but I only have one car and this would also be my family trip car. So I would need to put in the bar only for track weekends and then remove it.

Family trip like just 2 people right? There are no rear seats in the GT3.

then you are probably limited to the 997.1
there is some more modifications required for the 997.2
but both are not NHTSA approved, obviously.
as i understand it, the GT3 sheet metal is thinned out back there for weight savings and thusly, never intended for passengers.
if this is a "family trip" car, i assume you will be carrying kids. as it is cruel and unusual to banish adults to the rear. and if carrying kids, they are my most precious kin, so if it was up to me, i'd get an automobile certified to carry the number of passengers you need.

Well that's an interesting point to check out. I wouldn't think that was allowed as I'm guessing that changes the unibody crash integrity and therefore would require separate certification.
I do know of some who have done this before me and have welded a piece in place to properly provide mounting points and such. So I'm guessing it isn't actually an issue but will do more research.
Now, back to the Q of ease of rollbar install in my situation...

No rollbar is easily installed or removed. If you just need harness attach points you can go with a Brey Krause bar that has permanent mounts but a removable bar. Goes in and out in 10-15 min.

I have the DAS Sport bolt-in roll bar on my 997.1 GT3. Of all the things I've done on this car I found this to be the simplest item to install. All the holes line up exactly, zero tweaking required. In addition to improved safety, I feel the chassis to be stiffer and the suspension works better as a result of the sturdiness of the triangulated 1.75" tubing. I am a big fan of DAS Sport roll bars.

Most Bars are a PITA to put in.. Unhook airbags to take the seats out.... etc..
I have a GMG in my 997.2 and its a bolt in.. But it took a lot of patience another person and alot of moving blankets to not scratch anything.
You could have one custom one made... with a harness bar you can bolt in and out.... and just leave the bar in all the time...

Agency Power makes a roll bar where the cross braces bolt in/out easily.
https://www.agency-power.com/shop/ra...era-gt3-turbo/
BUT...No way would I put kids in back of a 911 with any type of roll bar in place. A collision would cause high risk of contact with the bar/ Head injury.
Removing the entire roll bar repetitively would get very old quickly.

Who said anything about kids back there?
Please refer to the original Q. I'm asking if the bar is easily and repeatably put in and out.
For comparison I removed the DAS in the 993 in about an hour tonight.

In any case, Bolt in Bars require front seats to be removed and maneuvering Bar in/out of car. Not difficult. Just Bulky and risk scratching up the interior panels each time in/out.

Ah. So I meant bar in on track days, bar out and kid in on family trips. Never bar and kid together.
Removing both seats...yak. Sounds PITA to do 2-4 times per year.
