Wide Front End

Correct on what powdrhound is saying. you want to "stretch" the tire slightly. Not stretch C&C style. Hmm 335 on a GT3 ? sounds like a lot of rubber to me, imo.
The car does not have any of the TQ that a turbo car has coming out of a turn. For me, it wouldn't make sense on a gt3. Turbo -yes.

The question becomes if adding a 275 front with a 305 rear would create balance issues with too much front grip. If it actually worked, that would be my most ideal and cost effective setup. Now if someone just had a definitive answer!

Ok, so therein lies to conundrum. I can widen the front wheel to 10'' and run the 275/35 tire, as it has an identical diameter to 245/40 and would ideally keep the 305 in the rear. This setup would not cause ABS and TC issues and would ensure perfect fit as is, without major mods.

IF i were looking for more custom front wheels for more front grip in a GT3, i would look in sizes
255/265/275 ,
rear 305/315/325 combos.
Stay within 5% of Front to rear.
Check all tire possibilities and you will have to stick to that tire.
Also note just because the tire has stamped 255 vs. another one stamped 275, it does not necessarily mean the 275 WILL be wider. Check the tire section width to paint the picture.
I forget the details but a Pirelli DH stamped 245 is wider then a Hoosier stamped at 275.
Edit,
perfect example, MC2, 275/35/19 has a thread width of "9.5""
a nitto r888 275/35/18 has a thread width of "10.4""
now
MC2 265/35/18 has thread width of "10.7" " ....
you see, need to pay attention to this stuff! in this case a 265 is wider then a 275 nitto...
now decide what do you want 18s ? 19s ? what tire ? street ? track only ?

Trial and error. When i did a lot of testing on my track 996t, i walked a lot of uncharted territory. Do your HW with the tires in terms of RPM / height / width etc. Offset of wheels and go based on best data available.

It really comes down to if 275/305 NT01s would work

That makes perfect sense and is logical. I have the self imposed constraint to run NT01s for cost effectiveness and want to stick to 18 inch wheels. Definitely no Hoosiers or slicks (makes it hard to compete/compare with friends).

if it were me, id eliminate those out of my equation unfortunately.
The 275's are massive up front - the 265 is limited to a 40 sidewall which is too tall, that leaves you with 335 only option.
how about 888 ?

R888 would be perfect, see highlighted in yellow.
I would look into a 10 inch rim and 12 inch rear.
You can even do a 275 with little draw back as it's just .3 of a inch.
I would start with a 265, if good no need to go to 275 but you have that as an option.
You have only 1 option with nt05.
Get some aero up front and you're set.

To me, I don't like nt01 feel. Bought a set sold after driving around the block.
Try -and see for yourself.

There's no such thing as too much front end grip on a 996/7... Look at race teams running 996/7s, the thing they're struggling with is front end grip. With 991 the factory finally did what was needed and added front track width.

not to be nit picking but i would say otherwise. High overview, if you go to big, then you will run into issues of getting the tires to work correctly inherently from the design of a street car 996/997.

With the 275/335s I certainly don't have any issue with front end grip. Even with a 65" cup wing providing lots of down force I could actually use more tire and grip in the rear. If you are comfortable trail braking aggressively then front grip is not an issue.

Enrique may be the outlier here as the NT01 is universally well liked and regarded as a great value along with very good performance. The R888 on the other hand is universally hated and I'd have to agree. I've probably run 25+ sets of NT01s over the last few years and have yet to find a better value which is important to me as I only get about 2-3 days out of a set. Yes, they are a few seconds slower than a slick but nothing some skill behind the wheel can't overcome. One thing I will say, the NT01 315/30/18 is a lousy tire and very much inferior in performance to the 305/35/18. I wonder if Enrique tried the 315 as that is the size I did not like either. That is however the size that most TT guys ran.

It was many moons ago when i tried nt01's - i don't recall size. But i suspect you're right.
You have a tq monster which i can understand the need for wider rear. The gt3 is like a girl with B cup ***** and asking to use a DD size lol. I'm speaking of the .1 . I have not driven a .2 in anger. I just feel it's a lot of rubber in the back, again i'm probably wrong - just stating my opinion on a .1 w 299 lbs of tq.
