997-2 RS vs F430 Scuderia
#16
wait a minute, are people saying a 430 scud drives/handles better than a 458? i asked this specific question at the dealer with two cars that we speak of were for sale and the salesman stated the 458 is far beyond the scud..
really??? i actually prefer how raw the scud looks in comparison? is the suspension geometry/dampening far behind the 458 rival!

Mooty that's why I haven't let you thrash my scud!!
I have 997.1-3 and scud, love them both for different reasons. The GT3 is so raw and I love it. The scud is a different animal, screaming soundtrack, violent shifts, more composed. I track the GT3, but that's because I've had the old girl since 07, we have history and I feel comfortable on track in that car.
The scud is a awesome machine, however, I don't like the slow factory support with repairs. The car does attract more attention which I don't really like, but I'm past the point in my life where I care if/who/what is looking or thinks. I buy the damn cars to drive them!

fiats are great toys
i have many not so smart friends. u know who i are
i tell them buy ferrari and they let me drive them. when i break them i help toe to dealer and hand them the bill.
i actually have no problem with the cost of maintenance insurance and all that. center of attention lol. i show up
in sweat pants at blk tie wedding so i'm used to attention. but i don't do well with bs or dealer dancing. if u want my
money just tell me bc dancing doesn't impress me one bit no
matter how sexy u are.
rs vs fiat. i buy rs
i'm calling my friends now to pitch them fiat.
they pay i drive
and i tell them that. i don't dance around the subject.

I have driven a 430 scud on track (only a short stint)..great experience, very "raw" and "visceral" - words usually associated with a pleasurable driving experience, and it was, but dynamically, they aren't on the same level of thrill compared to piloting a GT car around a race track, not for me anyhow.

I live almost in the middle of nowhere, 7 hours from a track. We have a .2 gt3 that we have put 5000 miles on and a 08 scud that we have put 10,000 miles on. Both very different but fun, we will keep both. The gt3 feels it has a safe but the scud has no safe, that is the diiference.

OP,
I haven't tracked either the scud or 458 Italia. A lot of spirited street miles in both cars. If I would buy one it would be the 458. Feels a step up in every category. The 458 only comes up short when it comes to dialing up the rawness to 11.

Timely thread for me. Got behind a 360 on the way to work today and started thinking about Ferraris again. For me its always been the cost of maintaining them that has scared me away. I'm sure I'll own one at some point in my life but that day isn't anytime soon. I'm pretty wedded to my Porsches.

They are a thrill and very rewarding to experience so don't rule them out due to maint costs.

Gt3 had a failed oil pressure sensor and needed to be trucked to the dealership all under CPO. The scud, two ball joints. Regular maintenance for both and price will vary, but the scud maintenance is not that much more.

I've owned a 2011 GT3RS, a 2012 458 and now a 2008 scuderia. I would buy back my RS over another 458 any day, but the scud is by far my favorite out of the three. It's much rawer than the GT3, better looking and better sounding. The RS I never really enjoyed as a street car. The heavy clutch, notchy shifter and lightweight flywheel made it a chore to drive in traffic. On the track it was sublime, superior to any fcar I've driven. But as a weekend driven street car, the overall experience in the scud can't be beat. The 458 feels like a lexus in comparison. I've also driven a speciale and honestly its just a glorified 458 IMO. Both the speciale and the italia are cars that have to be driven very fast (illegally) on public streets to be enjoyed or appreciated. The Stradale is a special car, but the scud gives you 90% of the same experience with the much needed additional power and the amazing superfast F1 gearbox, which quite frankly is more dramatic and faster than any DCT i've driven.
And if this doesn't make your hair stand on end, I don't know what will
