Agreed.

Went from E46 to 996GT3...now granted it is my only car but I only need a car for the weekends. GT3 is way less streetable. And I often feel like I'm wasting the car by driving it on the street. The E46 did both things very well...street and track.

I miss my E46:

I've only had the E46 for a few months so I am very much more tied to the E36. While I absolutely love the E46, the E36 is much more special to me so if I was to keep one it would be that. I just feel like owning the E36 will be a pretty moot point once the GT3 is in the garage, plus having the 15k or so from the E36 would be nice too.

I keep considering the M2 because the GT4 is too pricey but I don't think I could really pull the trigger

That is true...I was looking at it more from the perspective of having a newer car with a warranty

But yes, M2 and GT4 aren't even comparable

$125k M3 was built to sucker foolish BMW owners

The M4 GTS is a waste of money imho.

The M2 is, admittedly after driving one, actually pretty good.

Depends on what your priorities and needs are in a car. BMW doesn't make a sports car (anymore) despite what fanboys say.

The 997.2 GT3 is probably the pinnacle of my automotive ownership in my lifetime. I still love BMWs, but for purity of driving, and power to weight, Porsche GT cars are king.

Hi. They make a perfect pair....it's what I'm running. E46m3 is the daily. Still fast enough for some fun, and can carry people and gear too.

GT3. Totally different league as a car and driving experience. Literally makes the Bmw feel blunt.

but hey you aren't really going to take the gt3 and park beside another car in the shopping centre car park while getting food....or I won't. What about a road trip with plenty of luggage and a friend...again Bmw is really good. The Bmw I use for everything..during the week....

Given how cheap the BMW is, keep it.

FYI...the e46 is much more modern than the e36. It's great. The only reason I see to keep the e36 is for fun....but you won't bother even getting in it for that reason if you have a gt3 in the garage too.....it's not as good. The gt3 is the king in that regard as the prior post stated.

Good luck in your deliberations

I had a e46 M3 prior to purchasing my .2 GT3 and have driven a lot of e36 M3s in the past. From a driving perspective, the only thing I liked about the e46 more than the GT3 is it is a much better day to day car. IMO the e46 M3 is comfortable to drive every day and has a large enough trunk to carry stuff while still being fun to drive.

The GT3 I would not want to sit in traffic on my daily commute to work. Other than that, the GT3 is a much more satisfying driving experience from the sound, performance, and overall feel of the car compared to the e46 M3.

I'd consider selling one of the BMWs and buy the GT3. I would have suggested to sell the e36, but being that it is Dakar yellow and looks to be in amazing condition (which is very difficult to find nowadays) I'd sell the e46. The LW wing and the ACS Type 1 wheels really look proper on the e36.

If you decide to sell the e36 let me know Good luck.

I appreciate the input from everyone, especially those that have owned either the E36 or E46 before.

The GT3 would be 100% my fun weekend/sunny day car so sitting in traffic, parking places, hauling people or things is pretty low on my priority list. I rarely even use the M3s to do any of those things even though they have the space.

I could possibly keep the E36 but selling it would certainly go pretty far towards the GT3 as I won't be paying for one in all cash. I know, I know.. I don't have 90k laying around, why even bother buying one haha.

boosted: Would you have interest in the E36? If so, PM me maybe we can work something out.
