Hello,

Looking for some information advice about this car.

http://inventory.mgmsl.com/web/used/...Ohio/30193281/

Does anyone know the history/owners? Have anyone deals with Gene at MGMS?

All info is very appreciated.

I don't know the car personally, so can't comment on the quality of it. However, it's been for sale for many months while the handful of other GT2RS to come to market have sold usually quickly, generally for much more money. I think this one has two things against it: white with the black/red interior (especially when it lacks any extra carbon fiber, leather or stitching options) is just not the rarest/ most desirable; two, the miles aren't really low enough to appeal to a serious collector. If it was black or even red, regardless of the interior and other options, it would have likely sold a long time ago. Just an opinion.

They have been around for a very long time. Gene was the sales manager at Fred Baker before Penske bought Baker and Stoddard, combining them into Porsche Beachwood.
In my one interaction with Gene (in 2009 at Baker), he seemed like a straight shooter to me.
MG asks and seems to get top dollar on their cars. I have never bought from them, but they have lasted years in the same location.

Thank you, guys. All knowledge and comments are appreciated. I agree - the color combination is not very appealing. I talked to Gene and at first he said the car has a totally clean due report. When I pushed him he said that there are over revs in ranges 1 and 2. Not sure I was reading him correctly but he sounded impatient and condescending.

FYI - Unlike NA, over revs in 1, 2, and 3 are common and easily recorded on rev limiter bounce with 997 GT2's. Some will even record a couple of anomalous 4's - bone stock. I get more concerned when they are too clean.

I like this particular car a lot due to color, low mileage and bucket seats. As pointed out, Red/Black is not everyone's cup of tea but many of the GT2RS have this combo.

I bought a silver one ~2-3 yrs ago with the same interior color (which I absolutely don't care for) and with A.S.S. (which I don't care for either) and without CF fenders (which I wish I had) but mileage was/is 1,xxx. Since then the prices have gone up too high IMHO. As an owner (not a collector) $4xxK is ridiculous, but your choices are not many.

MG has been around a long time and I have done business with them for a long time. They don't mess around.

As far as PPI in the area, you can do it Penske, N. Olmstead, or the Indy is Steinel (sp?).

I've heard this same thing but I bounced the hell out of my 2rs rev limiter (it's almost impossible to not) and never racked up a singer over-rev in any range. I bought it with a few 1-2's but never added any while I had it.

Separately, since when was a white 2rs a bad color? I'm not a huge fan of the red interior but mine had it and seems like a lot did.

Interesting. I guess I should clarify that I know it to be true with GT2's and same era Turbos. Could be completely different threshold settings by the time 2RS came out or difference in LWFW. And you are right, almost impossible NOT to bang RL - especially in the first month of ownership :-)

It looks to be a nice car...2RS sold at Monterey this year through Gooding, lower mileage, red with carbon fenders - http://www.goodingco.com/vehicle/201...he-997-gt2-rs/

My 2RS is silver, black interior and carbon fenders...all options I like, but if I was in the market today, this would be a car I would strongly consider...I like it in white, but frankly, it looks good in any color...and it is a beast.

It is hard nowadays to find a good 2RS, they are rare. Easier to find a 4.0 than a 2RS. If you like the car, PPI checks out, stop thinking and pull the trigger...you could be driving it in a few days and I promise you, you will have a huge grin;-)

Oh, did I say this car is a beast...

Thank you all for your input. Looks like I found one for sale by a private collector. Better color (imho) and lower mileage.
