With 2 other porsches in the garage, family obligations and no immediate plans to go to the track i have the opportunity to add an italian to the collection. I have owned the black 09 gt now for nearly a year, acquiring little over 300 miles with a total mileage of 14000. I purchased with 13700 miles. it is more than i ever would need on the street
Third owner, no track, no accidents, no paint, clean carfax, no mods except a porsche tech equipment roll bar for looks, no signs of harnesses, plus it has comfort seats, not lwb. purchased from sewickley porsche in pa sight unseen but very happy with the car. All service done at the aforementioned dealership and they were kind enough to provide me with all these records. 2 keys, owners manual but not the complete set of warranty books.
The original intent of the dealership was to sell as a cpo but a few range 4 and one range 5 overrev prevented this. everything else is perfect and was good enough for a cpo minus a wheel scuff and very slight bolster wear. PCcbs are fantastic.
Im looking to trade in for a new vehicle vs sell outright to avoid the hassles of private party sales, arranging shipping, finances, tire kickers ect....but also in ohio we only pay the sales tax on the price difference.
My dilemma is all 3 dealers won't even give my a trade number, not even a low ball. I think comps are hard to come by. They ask me what i want to get for it, thus the reason for this post.
I have followed the market since my purchase and feel the gt2 values are on a slight upswing. I have seen 2008 under 10K mile collector examples 155-200 and 20K+ mile drivers for 125-145. I haven't seen many 2009s (25 built for NA).. Imo, no real anatomic differences in the 09 except pcm and bragging rights for what its worth.
I am embarrassed to say no real pro photos as i have barely driven it nor taken out of the garage. These are photos from the dealership on auto trader, options list and the dme readout.
Just want a fair number that i can justify when i speak to the dealer.

$155k trade in, quick and hassle free. Do NOT take less. '09s are rare and I have one similar to yours a few production builds after yours. IMO: keep
(I am not a dealer, I sold my '08 and now own 3 GT2s and still have my first one since '03. Been quietly tracking and watching most GT2s that have traded since '02. Will buy 4th one...)

The internet has convinced people you cant have overrevs on these cars to retain value for better or worse

Ha! No not me...that was at purchase now its 300 miles later probably 10 hours. I assume either previous owner or dealership banged it off the limiter in some spirited drives.
A single tick in range 5 is mechanicaly impossible. It takes 3 ignitions to equal a revolution and range 4 is 11 so just shy of 4 revolutions multiply by the speed is miniscule.
I researched dme readouts thoroughly and talked w 3 different techs and multiple knowledgeable RListers re the issue. Only one guy said stay away all others said gt2 /turbo ....3s,4s are common. The single 5 is an aberancy. I completely understand where everyone is coming from but the ranges are much lower for the boosted engines. Just explaining my rational for purchasing.
The only thing i could do differently is drive it for 50+ hours to assure no engine issues.

i had a GT2 with I think 8 ignites in 4 and 1 each in 5 and 6.
my understanding was readings under 10 can be disregarded and readings of 1 ignite are a fluke?

So would the over-rev range fall under GT3 or 997 Turbo? No option for GT2
997 GT3: range 4 = 9.6k-10k rpm, range 5 = 10k-11k rpm, range 6 >11k rpm
997 turbo: range 4 = 7.4k-7.9k rpm, range 5 = 7.9k-9k rpm, range 6 >9k
The mechanical force at these engine speeds will make components stretch. It might still sound and run fine but i would do a compression and leakdown at the least to try and satisfy any prospective buyer.
