Default Best independent service shop in Los Angeles

My car is out of warranty and needs to get annual service. Can someone recommend a reputable shop in LA that specializes in GT cars? Looks like bbi in Orange County is well liked, but they are a bit far. Any others closer that you would trust?

Btw, would be taking care of coolant pipes as well so they need to be competent with that too. Not sure if doing flywheel harmonic damper is needed also for a 997.2 RS. Has this been boiled down to a general consensus? Thanks all!

Close to LA like Westside area or?

Put it on a flat bed and ship it.

The really good water cooled shops that I know of that work on GT cars (a lot) are in OC.

Callas Rennsport might be one to call, I know some who use them.

Thanks Spyerx. Mid Los Angeles, Hancock Park. I guess I don't mind the drive to OC, but pick up and drop off would be a pain. That said, I want to take it to a good shop and I've heard mixed feedback on Callas. In any case, they are not THAT much closer than BBI.

Mistress in silverlake is well liked by a few people. Check them out, I almost bought a GT3 from the owner of that shop.

Thanks Dan, I actually spoke with one of the owners, Tom, and he seems like a good guy with a good shop. I would be ok taking my aircooled there, but didn't know if they were experts with the GT cars. They're also a more recently opened shop so they have a more limited track record.

No Prob, Im not sure how many watercooled cars he has worked on but the guy who bought my 997 Turbo had his coolant lines pinned at Mistress.

I see a lot of GT2's and GT3's of 996 and 997 models in his shop for service via instagram.

My buddy uses them and like them a lot. I only see one issue with them, parking of customer's cars. They don't have a lot of space. i hear goo d things about them.

I like Peter in Pasadena and then there's House Automotive.

I think House Automotive was better when they first started. Nowadays the prices are much closer to dealer prices. One estimate a friend got, they were charging full hours for things that take 15 minutes.

Who is Peter in Pasadena?

Close to the center of LA all of the above guys are good and pretty meticulous. Tom at Mistress Silverlake knows the GT3 intimately as he owned, serviced, set up, and raced a street 997 GT3 that was faster than some GT3 Cups at the track. He also knows how to pin the cooling lines efficiently as he did it on his own motor. There is also Pro Motorsports in Burbank that is run by Brad and Tyson. Tyson has worked on Porsches for over 20 years, including his past at TRE, and at WEVO where they had to figure out and engineer the installation of a watercooled GT3 Cup motor in a 69 911, and at Hergersheimers/HRG where he worked for years on street and Cup GT3s.

Peter is the owner of Stuttcar on Walnut. He pinned my coolant lines, I wouldn't take my car anywhere else.
