Kuddo's on putting all those miles on the car. It kills me when cars like this do no get driven.

Also pretty neat to hear that someone as 'well driven' as yourself thought our Georgia roads were some of the best!

Talking Before I must!

Sorry if I am hi-jacking this thread, just tried an RS today and a question popped up after the drive.
I am guessing a former vanilla .2 GT3 owner and new RS should be able to answer, as well as the usual crew

I was surprised by how present the LWFW noise was once the car was hot, I didn't notice it so much when we first started. Is it also you experience?
More importantly I expected the noise to disappear once the car is being driven but found out it is still a bit present at low speed under very low charge. I did not hear it in traffic going out of the city but it happened on very narrow twisters going uphill, slow speed, low rpm, light acceleration.
Anyone experienced this? Is it normal?

^^^ all normal. When it's warmed, it can be pretty loud.
You should hear a cup car.

This is my 4th Porsche with a LWFW so it didn't startle me, but the noise in the water-cooled cars is definitely louder than in the air-cooled ones. When the gear oil is cold and the ambient temp is below 50º there is practically no chatter whatsoever. Once the oil is up to temp, it sounds like your gearbox is about to fall off. And it's totally normal, hehe. #becauseracecar

It's part of the romance. They did run the 24H of Nurburgring in it...you can't have that and a DD at the same time.

Thanks guys, I have another car with LWFW but noise isn't that present and stops once the car rolls. 90deg V8 is better than flat 6 I guess.

Thanks for the information. Was a getting concerned as both air-cooled cars have LWFW and noise level isn't even close. When I first received the car in Dec it was pretty chilly so noise wasn't near as noticeable as of late.

Great pics of the drive, I need to make it down that way sometime. Congrats on putting some miles on the car and actually enjoying it!

Not only did it run, it drove to the 'Ring from Weissach, ran the whole event, finished 13th overall, and then drove back to the factory. Only things they changed on the car to make it race-ready was to add a fuel cell, remove the PCCBs for steel rotors, add the full Clubsport cage, an OMP racing seat, and slicks. Oh, and stickers! Loved reading that story at the time.

Great car and color Ilko! That is my dream car unfortunately the only way to afford one is if my C4S increases enough in value and/or the RS decreases. I think the 993 is done increasing so its not likely I can afford one.......Jealous!

ilko, great write up and beautiful car.

I think you may have motivated me to purchase a 2010 RS. I love my 997.1 GT3 but if its that much better I must experience it

Id have to find one in your exact spec/color set up. Nothing better than a Grey/Red RS!

I missed the boat on one of these.

A friend offered his to me 2 years ago for about $150k (going rate at the time over here). Just last month, someone bought a similar car from another friend of mine for $320k. Prices for these things here are insane.

They truly are something special!!!

There is no such thing as missing the boat. The only question is if you want to ride the boat. I think the prices have peaked and would stay here for sometime.
