hahaha yes.
until one has 30k miles on 997GT3... they really should just read and not talk and surely not post opinions....

Now at $76k.

Whenever I see aftermarket tail lights I run... Seeing the carfax, what a tough life this car has had...

Any body know this one?
There are several posts on this car in this forum. Certainly not a cream puff but the price appears to be right.

edit: i see you found it. there's this thread also https://rennlist.com/forums/vehicle-...uards-red.html

With that said, I can't say i'm totally surprised because I can't really see spending $250K+ for one of these either (and neither did most on this forum, by the way). Same goes for the non-RS version at $175K+. In fact I would argue the most (not all) vocal fans on here bought their cars at $75k-$100K less than what they've been trading at for the past 1.5 yrs.

I know this will offend some folks on this board, so I'll be the first to admit that these are great cars, and certainly VERY special but the hype that has built up over the past couple of years isn't quite justified IMO. And if you're not a die hard Porsche fanboy checking a box in your collection, or going after the #investment angle, they just don't make a lot of sense at the current prices vs. a Scuderia, for example.

Love the grey black with the black though!
Everyone is different...and that's what makes the world go round. I'm very "value oriented." So when I'm buying a gt3 and have to choose a variant (i.e., 996 vs. 997.1 vs. 997.2 vs. rs vs. non-rs, standard color vs. pts, etc., etc...), I have to ask myself if the extra power/looks/cache is worth the premium...to me. For me it never really has (which is why I went back from a 7.1 to a 996), but that's not to say I don't want an RS or another 997 or that its not worth it to someone else who values different things or has much more disposable income than I do! But a big reason my worldview is like that is because because I'm not rich and also have more fun with several "lesser" cars in my stable over one "halo" car. So, I'd have a hard time spending 200k plus on a 7gt3rs even though they are amazing and I really want one! I also love my scud, but then again, I only paid 118k on bring a trailer for that turd LOL! (which by the way, is freaking epic and lays waste to even my 3.9l gt3 in outright acceleration). But acceleration ain't everything (if it were we would all be driving sport bikes), and if I had to choose between LITERALLY ANY mezger gt3 variant and my scud the choice would not be even remotely difficult (which is not to say I don't love the scud...I do...but for me the overall mix of speed, handling, feedback, steering, usability, rarity, reliability, cache, race pedigree, and track worthiness of a nicely set up mezger gt3 is simply impossible to beat. These cars really do occupy a type of "unicorn" status...find me another platform that puts it all together so well).

You have to love the 0 accidents listed by autocheck on that one. $99K seemed liked a bargain until I saw the carfax.
By the way I am the guy who either overpaid/underpaid/paid market value for the 22k mi 2008 Guards Red GT3 on BAT. I do really like guards red and the rarity kind drawn me to it more along with the natural gray leather. I do intend to drive it, enjoy it and maintain it. I will certainly throw a center delete exhaust on, tune and air filter (sharkwerks package I think) as well as a dsc controller and have no problem doing a 4.0rs flywheel when the time comes. I hope to get to more HPDE days as the kids get older.

**Recession special**- baby GT3 - Does anyone want a 2006 997.1 Guards Red Carrera S 6 spd sport seats sport chrono black interior 49k mi? Super clean, clean blackstone oil analysis, full fornt ppf, good dme report. Asking $59K and have a factory OEM aero kit for the car for sale as well.

@Rapolsive Congrats on your new car! Looks like you found a nice example. I have owned seven GT3 and they are wonderful cars. Kind-of on the hunt again but prices are hard to stomach when I was buying 996 GT3s for 50-60k, 997.1 RSs for 88-95k when they only had 7k miles on them, and 997.2 GT3s for 85-95k that were much cleaner than the 150k cars listed now. I think you will do fine over time. Enjoy

Not to get this thread off topic but former Scud owner here too and totally agree. Scud, 458, F12, 991.2 3RS, 570S… have tried some stuff and enjoyed all of them but came back to a 997 3RS because I just enjoy the drive more. All of this is subjective obviously but if buying for the driving experience I haven’t found anything better yet. Scud was close but doesn't quite have the level of feedback that the 997 does.

Todd, so funny we keep coming back to these cars. I remember the regret of not buying your green RS!! still never got that unicorn green and that ship has sailed long ago. Just last Spring, I bought back my old .1gt3 that I sold back in 2014. Short of 1 other Porsche product from back in the mid 2000, nothing else excites...

Good luck in your search, I'll keep an eye out for you

remember when that certain mid-2000 car could be had for sub 500k? Talk about the ship sailing! 7.1gt3 is definitely an icon. To this day still my favorite from a pure aesthetic perspective.

Selfishly I hope the market tanks over the next year or 2. I really want to pick up a Scud but not at today's prices.

My .1 GT3 is a keeper. So I don't care if that market comes back down. I'm not selling. I do think long term all 997 GT cars are going to be the sweet spot and be highly collectible and valuable. My kids can worry about what they are selling for after I'm gone.

I think the ones on here are generally the ones that appreciate these cars from a driver standpoint over a hype/investment/flex standpoint. I have had 2 997.2 gt3s and eventually landed a 992 gt3 at msrp. Tremendous car but it’s very evident that it’s built to make the fastest lap times, even weekend warrior track guys will be seeing better times and it’ll make them feel like they are a better driver, but it’s really the car doing all the work. I have a thread on here about the auto rev match function, the 992 makes it very difficult to heel toe, something that’s seemingly minor kept eating away at me to the point that I found a nice example 991.1 gts 7mt to satiate me for now until I can find another 997.2 at realistic prices.

Nicely modded 7k-mile Guards Red .1 GT3. Has Perlon GT2 bucket seats, GT2 RS carbon fiber front hood, Semcon roll bar (company that made roll bars for Porsche’s Clubsport package equipped cars), carbon accents (rear wing, center console, and side mirrors), and GMG muffler bypass. Unfortunately the car doesn’t come with any of its stock parts. The only one that is really a big deal to be missing from a collectibility standpoint is the front hood. This car is priced at $158k.

Could buy a few date code matched hoods for the resell price of that CF one... looks like he was going GT2 spec.
