I’ve watched his content a while ago because I was looking at newer GT3s before and he has a review on the Quickjack lol, but he is a new car guy, also not a mechanic… primarily 991.2 RS stuff.

From what I can see this is a simple “can you use your social media channel to try and sell this for us with one of those raffle things all the exotic channels do, we want $220k and you can keep anything above that… deal?”

With that said, I can't say i'm totally surprised because I can't really see spending $250K+ for one of these either (and neither did most on this forum, by the way). Same goes for the non-RS version at $175K+. In fact I would argue the most (not all) vocal fans on here bought their cars at $75k-$100K less than what they've been trading at for the past 1.5 yrs.

I know this will offend some folks on this board, so I'll be the first to admit that these are great cars, and certainly VERY special but the hype that has built up over the past couple of years isn't quite justified IMO. And if you're not a die hard Porsche fanboy checking a box in your collection, or going after the #investment angle, they just don't make a lot of sense at the current prices vs. a Scuderia, for example.

Love the grey black with the black though!
Sure. All valid. So why didn't he just walk away ? Just struck me as odd. If I hopped out of a car and thought "meh; not convinced," I wouldn't drop ~$200k on it with a weird scheme to raffle it off in 6 months.

i think Wonderdan is on to something -- probably a business decision. I'm not sure how these raffle deals work but I can tell he's got high hopes it'll make money for him.

Content creators all over are moving to the raffle "business" model. Basically they're setting up their own lottery. Never been a better business then lottery. He netted north of $250k profit on his M2CS Raffle(he mentions this in a video).

As far as OG/Matt's content. I appreciate his in-depth look into details and he has great taste for quality mods on his cars. He tends to go off on monologues in his long form videos which comes off as borderline narcissistic.

$250K profit on a car raffle? We're all in the wrong business!

hahaha,... he lifted, & it felt like it stepped out on him,... so he blames the sway bar & now the car needs "to be fixed". dang Matt, if you're reading this, that made me laugh. But I get it,... you haven't spent any time in the 997 GT3, and are just used to a much easier to drive, 991 GT car. ....
...... I have watched a LOT of OG videos over the years too,... & like WDan, I was originally interested in a 991.2 manual GT3 back in late 2017,... so I found his OG content (& I'm a member of Smokies GT too),... but his OCD ways make for a video that is just twice as long as I need. I'm a detail oriented guy (it was the basis of my entire engineering professional career), but for auto-enthusiast related discussions, I have a little less patience than he does. to each his own I guess.

Thanks for posting guys

Driving impressions were equally strange. Lots of "hmm" and "I dunno what to say." Never had or received that impression from anyone who's ridden in or driven this car. "Brakes are legit." Very astute.

And I can't get over the "high mileage" comments. What's he talking about? He didn't frame that in context of the giveaway proposition or value of a rare GT car more generally. Just like 30k is an atrocious amount of miles that warrants a bunch of work . . . "Fuzzy logic," indeed.

Saving grace - Daughter's "UGH" at the very end.
Just a few responses. In terms of Youtube Content, 997 GT3 RS content is mostly extremely old. Any newer videos are the same British journalists taking out the same press car from 10 years ago.
Being how rare the cars are, there's not anyone doing consistent content with them.

In terms of 30K being high miles, in the RS world unfortunately it's probably higher than average. These are special occasion/weekend cars to lots of folks including myself.

Maybe thats a challenge to go do some content, most professional content creators I know buy/borrow/rent/insure/lease new cars because they are easier to get into and out of. Not a lot of 997's for rent at Exotic Racing in Vegas and Porsche has long forgotten about us... still waiting on our PCCM promise

As far as mileage goes... thats relative, relatively speaking 30k is low for a 997 anything but I do agree that this is usually a 3rd or 4th car for most so mileage will continue to remain low.

Most people that frequent the 997 For Sale forum topic could dissect a 997.2 GT3 for any and all imperfections, resell implications and generally not "correct" anything... so I wouldn't take anything said here to be general public consensus since we are our own governing body and self perpetuate the value of a 997 GT3 to be higher than any non-997 GT3 owner can comprehend AND also generally don't listen to anyone until they teach us something we don't already know (channeling my Clark Griswold)

That video was bound to get a WTF from us

PCA has been raffling cars for years way before the rest of them, this year was so successful they added another for a total of three 911's.

Technically they are not gambling but rather conducting a sweepstakes. They are using third party sweepstakes companies like Marden Kane or American Sweepstakes & Promotion Co. It's all legit and a major cash grab in the automotive industry right now.

Well they got at least one sucker, I’d love making another 30k mile RS a 5k miles RS
