i love the G wagon when it's parked
when its in motion, i prefer just to walk.
i went into buy one. drove it 3 blocks. i drove back and that was enough.
i am a big MBZ fan for long time too.

My son and his wife took a test drive in a GWagon, and her comment was something along the lines that she wasn't going to drive an Armored Car around town. And she is a pretty plucky girl, too. Eventually, you are going to have to park it and get in and out of it. I have never sat in one, being a life long small, nimble car sort of guy, they just remind me of my days in M113's and M60's. Although the M114 with the 20mm Vulcan on top was rather intimidating.

all the best....

I am on the hunt for a G55 specifically and looking for a specific color combo. There is competition from International mobsters for sure and good cars sell quickly in the used market. The color of choice for export seems to be black which is no surprise there and the market is full of them.

The 5 speed transmission is rated for 796ft/lbs and new 7 speed is 542ft/lbs. That being said, G63s and newer NA Gs from '07 (I think) are mated with the 7speed. Not sure how well it will hold up over time.

The trick is to buy one owner with records that don't have electrical visits to the dealership and these power plants are reliable.

I found a 2013 G550 with 16 miles and has CPO. They are asking 87k. We'll see if they deal. Problem is there is hardly any for sale used. Its crazy.

Side question: Ive tried to do research on depreciation and how hard it is to sell/trade in the car. The Residual of the car from Benz is 48%, which is crazy low, but all used G's for sale seem to hold there value very well. So confused....

Seems to be completely polar opposite view points. Either you love it or hate it.

I'm screwed....

Gwagons have excellent resale value due to export competition I believe. That is what dealers ask me when I call about these cars. They all have an exporter they use and recommend.

Landcruisers have a better resale value even with high mileage. Just food for thought. Look at the number of 13s and 14s available on cars.com nationwide. That number doubles the previous years. I think there is going to be a push on depreciation from the top down over the next few years that is higher than before.. Maybe..

The car has too much of the wrong image to me. Agreed on rappers, celebs, and athletes. However, in my area, you have money no object ostentatious Mainland Chinese. All of this is a tuenoff for me.

The market has been strong on them and friends that have them, love them.

Very not for me, but I could see you embracing it. You really should be asking your target audience: will the chicks dig it over a CTT/RRS SVR/etc.

Get a E63S AMG wagon. You won't regret it.

I've got a 55. I'd dump all my Porsches and Maserati in a heartbeat before I'd sell this. You'd have to pry if from my cold lifeless hands.

Pony up and get the AMG, totally worth the extra$

They drive like 70s military trucks because, tada, thats what they are.

The ride is rock hard and bouncy, the windnoise is deafening, and the electronics suite is at least one generation behind. The seat controls are from a w210, command one generation behind mainline cars, etc.

The feel of the truck however is very air cooled 911 in its build though. Super solid, short dash, good sight lines, etc.

I think I'd like a friend with one so I can get it out of my system....so get to it Chao

I'm with you. Have had plenty of landcruisers. Great, but boring cars.
I've spent a lot of time in G wagons over in Europe. Good off road capabilities and solid frame. Truck that fits very well with the 4l Diesel engine. Not sure if that's offered in the Us?
