Current situation on NT01 availability? Thinking about replacing these...
i have an event in 2 weeks and think my R888s may be cycled out with About 40 heat cycles but still some meat on them. They were not gripping last event like they had been.
Wanted the NT01s last time but could not find them. Will have to make some calls tomorrow including to Radial Tire but was wondering what the national situation was like right now.
Any newer tire that I should consider that would give me ability to drive on street, good wear, and enough grip to have some fun? The NT01s seem like the perfect compromise to me but doesn't do me any good if I can't get them.
Actually I just came out to garage and there is a lot of rubber left here. Maybe I should just get two more days out of them then call it a season. The fronts look great. Left rear is the worst. It is on wear bars on outside half and has a couple chunks missing. I should have flipped them on the rims at some point but I didn't.

Buy 3-4 sets at a time. Just blew a set this weekend. I'm going cheap and running out some 10yr old ra1 (well not that old but they are old) tires before I dive into the stash... Should last me until March hope they start shipping again

what size you looking for?
i dont have nitto anymore but others may have them. if u list sizes. other may come to your rescue.
MPSC2, trofeo are decent but $$$$$$$$$$
hoosier is good
R888 you will regret
dont trust the site, call and have a HUMAN BEGIN actually walk the warehouse and tell you that they actually TOUCHED those tires the site says that's in stock. they cancel you out just before shipping and show out of stock, happened to me every times. thus leading to my purchase of their entire west coast supply a year ago.

I need standard RS 18" fitment 305/35-18 and 245/40-18. Discount tire has one (1) of the rears and can get another from Nitto in "3 weeks" but not sure I believe that.
I do not own a trailer and do drive to the track from time to time (only Summit Point as it is much closer, not to VIR or The Glen.) Often my wheels can catch a ride with a friend.

Son-of-a.....this is much harder than it seems like it should be. Even if I want to use something else there are so few options. I looked at the Kumho V710 but the 305/30 is 0.8" SMALLER than stock with the 245/40 0.05" LARGER than stock. Seems like this is a 1" differential that could cause problems. I see that some use the 315/30 to maintain rake and size proporations but that size is now impossible to find as well. And WTF is with the rounded shoulder vs. square shoulder on these tires?
R888s seem like the only thing that is readily available that fits properly other than a real slick.

May be heat cycled out at 40 HC? I'd say it is a given. I just sold one set of extra Nittos to a local friend in need. Somebody must have some spares for you. I am sitting on two mounted sets and two extra sets and a car in the shop.

I am getting the sense that the NT01 is not as popular here on teh east coast. Paul at Radial Tire is a regional guru of tires for racing and such. He does not seem to be a fan. He thinks the R888 is better in most aspects other than wear/durability. There just doesn't seem to be as much interest around here but what the hell do I know. I'm just a casual once-in-a-while track guy with a street car.

Yeah, stock up on Nittos. I buy 10 sets at the start of each season and that holds me over for the year.
==> haha in do that with yoko slick 8 sets a year
The 888 is a horrid tire in comparison
==> lmao so
I'm not alone or crazy

can remotely drive a decent lap would pay for r888
yea at its prime it's faster Han nt01. that's like two session in the middle
of its life cycle.
nt01
old ra1
are faster than 888 over the entire life except that two session that 888 is at prime.
