Do you have any symptoms or just a check engine light?

No symptoms but car oil temp running at 225. Normal is slightly over 200 but it was super hot day in Austin. Otherwise running like champ. Also oil level is good.

Go to harbor freight and get an inexpensive code reader. General codes can be read. Should give an idea of issue

May be tough finding someone open on a holiday. The cheap models from Autozone might work. I'm going to rent the pro durametric from this private individual in South Austin to turn off TPMS system.

Best of luck.

Interesting reading the latest Grassroots Magazines oil temps on the track oriented Camaro they just ran on a track. Quickly oil temps to 325 and even higher. They contacted Chevy's performance division, who said the oil temp is not actually measured, but rather the car's computer takes data and gives a "hypthetical" oil temp. The Mag said "why not just measure it, it is right there?" So Chevy put in a thyrister sender in the oil drain plug, and sure enough the temps really are high. They suggested changing to 15-50 oil for track time and pitting when the temps approach 300 degrees.

Sounds to me like the Camaro designers need to come up with better oil cooling.

Read in another mag, that Chevy has discovered why so many new Z06 engines are self destructing very early in their life. The machining for the oil filter mount leaves metal which finds its way to the crankshaft, with immediate damage. They say they have resolved that manufacturing problem, but still recommend changing oil at 500 miles.

If I had a Z06 I would forever have anxiety that sooner or later, my engine would blow. Sort of like the coolant pipe concern we have for our Mezgar motors.

Learned how to put up Crown Molding at my daughter's place in Charlotte yesterday. Using a penumatic nail gun is fun. Didn't even nail my hand to a stud, either. Her boss races GT3's and told her he would be interested in having another, like mine. Not selling.

All the best...
