Secret to get evap smog readiness to clear?
I live in the smog **** capital of the U.S. SoCal. Battery was pulled at shop for some work I had done. Smog check due. All the indicators are cleared. Evap isn't setting ready. Have many drive cycles from cold in the last week. Ecu and cats are stock.
Shop piwis will not do short test on evap. No Ecu codes, no errors, just needs to set.
Any tricks? I already wasted enough time with the stuff posted on the net for 993 and BMW. They aren't working, followed to a t.
Local smog guy said Porsche can be an sob on evap.
Help?

But during whole cycle no over 60, no over 3k rpm, very light throttle.
I can try it again tonight late but again need to drive a bit before I can start the drive cycle part.
Any tricks on your end?

You can always register the car in Nevada using my address? No **** smog testing over there...connect up the OBII run the car for 15-20 sec and BAM done.

Truly sorry for you guys living in California under the liberal **** control. Come to Florida and enjoy total freedom and track w/o BS decibel level restriction ... fricken hell it's a race track!!!!!
California with it's liberal BS will destroy motorsport.

Hence why I register my non-hybrid cars in the friendly state of Nevada...less humid than Florida too.

I had the same problem with my E46M3 and it was a true pain in the ***...get up really early before any traffic and do the tests. Or rent a dyno for 30 minutes...

Does not have to be in order
But you cannot
1. Full throttle or over 3k
2. Go over 60
Each set though (at each speed) should be done for entire time frame it's a hassle for sure

I did some searches on "drive cycles" to get the car ready to pass smog. #1 idle for 2 min 15 sec. #2 drive 20-30mph for 3 min. #3 then 40-60mph for 15 min. #4 stop and idle for 5 mins.
#5 drive back to smog shop or your shop for the techs to plug in and make sure everything is clear. Drive this process under 3000 rpm and do not drive over 60mph.
This sounds crazy but it did work for me.
Good luck.

Ok going to give it another go in an hour or so when traffics is more clear. I have a scanner so I can see the codes being set. Smog guy verified it was last one.
Thanks guys. Wish me luck. Need to get this taken care of before I head to buttonwillow weds

Doesn't the car have to be completely cold (i.e.: you need to let it sit overnight)?

It's cold. But yeah. I think Ecu needs to be under 95 and iat needs to be within 10'degrees. So basically water and ambient gems have to be about the same. So the air injection system runs.
