Default Iron Rotor Advice, please....

Is there any consensus on what are the best, or better, iron rotors out there? There's such a plethora of them, it's a bit difficult to know what to buy, without some advice from this forum.

I run DE mostly in the Midwest with this car. Thanks for the input.

Are you running into any issues tracking the OEM rotors?

997.1 GT3. I've never had OE rotors on the car. I bought the car with Alcon's that had replaced the ceramic's. Now the Alcon's are shot and I've got to make a move pretty soon so I can get this car back on the track.

PFC is getting a bit big for their britches. I waited a few months for Apex to get rotors shipped from the factory. They also seem to crack prematurely (fingernail width after two days), though I don't have experience with OEM or another brand to compare, so it may be normal. If I were doing it again, I would probably go brembo, stoptech, or gyro.

Thanks for that. Giro's are piquing my interest. Also, has anyone had any experience with cryo-soaking their rotors for extra life? My mechanic, who's a star in Formula F, is big on it.

I like the brembo type 3. I get really good life out of them.

Brembo type 3 or PFC... I run PFC... Sturdy rotors that wear well and haven't been able to warp them yet! Have read cases of guys warping giros after a few hundred kms so don't know about those being so great...

In addition to the all the good options above, there's AP Racing and DeMan Motorsport rotors. Both AP and DeMan are slotted. AP is available in both 350mm(for .1) and 380mm(for .1 PCCB and .2), two-piece design with aluminum hat equipped with either floating or rigid hardware. We used AP when we ran 24-hour races, they go the entire distance plus qualifying! DeMan rotors are 350mm one-piece all steel, great value, I've gotten 12 days and I think I go at least 3 more.

I've been running Giros for years and never heard of anyone warping them. I got 17days (68 sessions or about 28 track hours) on my last set of 380 Giros before one of the fronts cracked.

Not sure powdrhound... I was looking at them but had read some cases of warp on RL... Hard to know the truth because what people say went wrong and what they do to contribute to a failure are often different from reality...

The one thing I appreciate about the PFCs is that they don't require a significant bedding in process, bolt them on and hit the anchors...

Has anyone switched to blank rotors rotors to avoid the drilled holes cracking?
